This is an opinion thread.
There have been a lot of comments about how this change affects that and how this decision by SOE has altered things this way and how it is good or bad (depending on your point of view). Name calling and flaming, a lot of difficult conversations about pricing. This is a trend that needs a little bit of a reality check.
Consider the following:
1) SW is a new profession, untested in the long run. As a new profession there are 800 opinions of what is going to be best in the long run. All of them will be right, and all of them will be wrong.
2)SW is still getting final tweaks. SOE is attempting to make modifications to the JtL environment to give, in their opinion, the best performance of the game they can provide. This means things will be fluid for a while as any change to JtL intrinsically changes SW to some degree.
3) SW is inherantly expensive as an investment. As such there has been a massive influx of wealthy interested parties and those supported by guilds who can and have rushed to the task, but this number will dwindle down to those who will continue with it over the long run.
4) No customer will ever by happy with the price of any item sold when there is no accurate and lasting basis for comparison shopping. Unfortunately because the profession hasn't been around for very long, even the masters have not figured out how to make it last the long (i.e. 3+ months) haul yet. Who knows what the market will be when the novelty wears off? Who knows what the prices will be? We will just have to wait and see.
5) For every positive there is a negative. For every negative there is a positive. But until the system is stable (i.e. devs stop tweaking things), the long term advantages adn disadvantages will not be known.
With these thoughts in mind, I ask that SW and Pilots be patient. We sill not know what the profession will really be like for at least a month, and probably more like 2 or 3. Flaming SOE, or each other for situations (pet pieve alert: eg. Pilots complaining about prices and considering us price gougers when some of us are going broke fast /grumble) is not necessarily the best thing for a productive forum.
All I ask is thatpeople be patient, and when things settle ... exploit the hell out of ... er ... I mean ... make best use fo the profession. The Market and the Economy will take care of itself.

So very true.
For more then one reason. First, we should expect more tweaks like the mass tweak during the coming 1-2 months.
Second, the market will saturate in due time. Right now, many people are still on their way to master pilot, this will change. So instead of a growing market, there will be a sustaining market, where we only replace loss due to decay.
Third, with the combat balance in development, the focus of the game will not stay on space for all time. While people will keep flying, other people will again focus on ground based activities. Thus less decay and fewer sales.
Fourth, with a shrinking market, SW will drop out of the business.
Hard to predict, what exactly will happen. Still, some changes are to be expected.

nice post,
as for pilots crying and calling us money grubbers? i dont even listen to um,, when a suit of composite goes for 250-350k and a crate of brandy can sell upwards of 150k and takes 1/20th the resources... tell um to take there bussiness else where, or go spend there money on 7 million resources and do it themselves.
so true. I hope that noone took any thing from me as flaming when descussing pricing. I just tried to explane how much I charge and my approch at it. I also sayed that this approach will not work for everyone. As I have stated in the past and agree with the poster it will all smooth out it always has. I am just wondering if all the servers have a player that makes a product comparable to everyone elses but jsut seems to have made a name for them selves. I find that amazing. Like on sunrunner we have a WS that makes good stuff but not really better then alot of the other WS. He charges a bit more then everyone else mainly because of his name. Heck alot of the stuff on his vendors is not even his anymore but still sells like it is. I think that is so awsome. Obviously it is marketing and word of mouth. How amazing is this MMO. There is so much that is done so superior to any other MMO out there but thay jsut get looked over because people look at the negative.
The next time you forget somethingin your house and have to run back in just remeber that almost every other MMO out there you would have to load into your house and then load back to the playing world. Next time you play think about all the suttle things that get looked over. If you want me to point alot of these out just ask I would be more then happy to.

Yes, dead on.
Although, even if I have not to load into my house, I still have to wait for my house contents to load.
And boy, I would love a real window.

well that is hit and miss I have one house that is always loaded and one that takes a few sec to load. It is still awsome. It appers that my house in the player city has to load probibly do to the constraints of the city and all the homes near by. A real window would becool and I think it is possible as we have seen in JTL. I would say make a suggestin and keep suggesting it. I know that thay have to prioratize but you never know when thay may be looking for something to improve.

Yes, the engine could handle windows, otherwise, there doors would not work...
Anyway, there are more important things then windows... Would still be nice, though
