OK i have been a shipwright for quite some time and I strive to better my skills and knowledge in this field to assist my customers in any way I can, I beleive very strongly that these things are needed for us in game so we can affectivley do our job.
A Holographic Diagnostic Analysis Table: This item would allow a shipwright the ability to load another players ship into it to display holographic image of the ship, what this would do is allow changes to be made to the loadout of another players ship, so when the player comes to the shipwright and says can you make me a better this than what i have, rather than a huge stream of descriptive messages and questions going back and forth, the shipwright could just say, load your ship schem into here please and let me have a look, much like a doctor can to a patient, that way the shipwright can easily say, oh sure i can make lighter, better, whatever of these.....and also be able to go " not only can i do a better one of those, but i beleive i can offer you a better (whatever). You get my point, then allow the shipwright to make said changes to the persons ship for them if they wish. Would be cool
Further:
Why can't the shipwright when crafting items change the look of the item, meaning when you stick certain looted items on a ship they alter the appearance of the standard ships look, why can't the shipwright do the same. It maybe cosmetic, but it still offers a wider range of individualized components that would better the gaming experience for all I beleive.
Not needed is not in game for other craft professions, we Shipwrights are not any more special than they are. I mean yes I wish an architect was like a REAL LIFE architect and would DESIGN my house the WAY I WANT IT but there not.
Last why is it that shipwrights cannot customize ship chassis design to incorporate features like more weapons, duel engines, etc like being able to say not have a droid interface to sacrifice for a different hardpoint to mount another item, say duel capacitors, maybe even a duel reactor, i just feel this would again make things very versatile.

The top one would be great to see implemented though.

Anyway just a thought

Lots of pluses and minuses in these two comments. We haven't even 6 months and you're basically asking to get more stuff for Shipwrights that other professions have been askingfor over 18 months of play. The table, I see as utility, the other stuff comprise addons akin to new schematics.

I will say this to you, it is not about other classes at all this is the shipwright forum, I could give you list upon list upon list upon list of items and changes i would like to see implemeted into those classes and any class in this game, I am as vetern as a vetern player gets in this game, and my desire to see these changes is no less scincere or compassionate about chages i would like to see in other areas. I am simply putting ideas forward that a great deal of players had asked me if I could do.
So far as astheitcs go, yes i would like to see both of my other ideas implemented, my arguement of the hardpoint changes is more valid than any other, why do i have 2 cannons on my XWing shooting as 4? why not four actual points, why does my ship cleary describe in this game, two engines, when i can only put one in? There are alot of questions i get asked that even to me make no sense. I will be glad to field an post any ideas on other forums, but for me, here, and now, this is where these concerns need to be addressed, and im doing so, i post on other areas as well. In case you all haven't noticed, SWG is dying, the time to act to change all is now, or wake up one day to play and find an all to familiar message stating, " SOE regretable no longer supports SWG or it's enviionment due to lack of public interest". JTL was supposed to be the saving grace of this game, but how can it be when players are asking and demanding things that should have been with a little research implemented in the first place, not because i say so, but because a great deal want it. Nor how can it save us when all craft can be flown and mastered in a couple of weeks, when things after less than a month are already stale. This is about justifying my dollars spent in a game, and in an environment where portraying a world, where volumes of literature has been written in great detail to show the workings, customs, worlds, everything you can imagine about it are often ignored and replaced, and substituted weather through shear lazines, time issues (throw it at them quickly to shut them up), or whatever the reason. just to fire out a half -assed product.
This is a new class your absoloutly right.... but why are they making the same mistakes, why can't we ask for change now early, or do i have to waste another 18 months worth of pay to play to get something that lasts more than a two-week thrill. I LOVE THIS GAME, but it's potential is being squandered, this is the one class i have waited for scince day one, and I will be damned if I am going to take a "get in line arguement about change"
No offence, but I am speaking my mind, this is not an attack.

This is a great idea.

Nice idea, but not needed, simply have them trade the part to you. Plus, as a well established shipwright certainly you have some great items you amde demonstrated somewhere.
Further:

Not needed is not in game for other craft professions, we Shipwrights are not any more special than they are. I mean yes I wish an architect was like a REAL LIFE architect and would DESIGN my house the WAY I WANT IT but there not.
Actually this is the big deal I would like to see, other crafting professions do have this ability (tailors with color, weaponsmiths with stocks and barrels)

I would have to agree it is not needed, but it would be cool. I would love to fly in a tier 5 TIE FIghter, or Z-95, instead I am stuck at best the Tier 2.
The top one would be great to see implemented though.
Trading back and forth is a pain in the butt, it opens crafters up to "HEY THIS ISN'T THE PART I GAVE YOU!" not to mention even just viewing them in the window while you browse is no good either as macros, and what nots always tend to interefere with the viewing. Frankly a starship terminal is there in starports, having a similiar device so shipwrights can analyze ships make up is not even remotly hard for them to do, nor is it time consuming for them to do, making task simpler for menial things is never a bad idea. Having gone through rounds of this already is why i suggested this.
