Thread: cannot crate jtl weapons? no mfg schematic option.

Has anyone seen that you cannot crate weapons and launchers? I was able to crate the enhancement components but when it comes to making a crate for the weapon it self, the schematic option does not appear. Is this intentional?

Only tools can be factory runs, afaik

It is intentional, and in my opinion a wise move by the dev team to prevent any one shipwright from crating 1000 "uber" ship components. The devs could have gone any way about it, but this is the one they chose, and I support the decision. It basically forces SWs to craft to keep up with demand, or else the competition will. Keep in mind that I completely see the other viewpoints on this choice, such as those that don't have mass amounts of time to play and would like to factorize everything. All valid arguments, I just agree more with the way it is now. (actually in the poll I think I did agree we could use a LITTLE more factory support)

What I've done, for example, is crated up a few hundred of every kind of subcomponent, minimally stock the vendor, then each day I pick one component to really tackle and try to stock. (I could do more but I'm also flying!) So one day my reactor vendor gets reloaded quite extensively, the next day the shields vendor, and so on.

good luck and have fun with it! meet your customers! you won't regret it.

Missiles, countermeasures, paint and texture kits, repair kits can be factory crafted. Plus all the sub-components. That's pretty much it.

It was intentional, and thank god for that. Crated parts would boil it down to numbers and undercutting just becuase you have a stockpile of a gazillion minerals from your uber-guild. It makes crafters do what they are supposed to do - craft. I used to hand-make every droid that went on my vendor, tailor them to order, etc. But you cant compete time-wise with those that pump out millions of unitsthru a factory as an after-thought with thier second characters. I would not be entirely upset if they made all final components non-schematic (subcomps are fine of course).

Agreed...Time consuming...But agreed.

Using a factory should aid you in your crafting...not replace it. lol

I like the fact that final components of SW can't be crated. I rather enjoy the crafting in this profession. Gives a better feel.

There are two reasons why some level of factory support for compenentswould benice:

1. Consistantcy. There seems to be alot of random variation in what should be identical weapons from the same shipwright. This makes it hard to find a pair of matched blasters for example.

2. Availablilty. On my server I have yet to see more than a mere handful of crafted starship components. Everyone has chassis on their vendors, but almost no one has so much a single component. You guys do make components, don't you?

To keep the factories from producing huge quanities of parts, the complexity could be made rather high. This would allow modest factory runs of identical components. Perhaps I could even find someone sellinga componentor two from time to time...

There are some issues with the Crafted Parts. Most suck eopie genitals. So SWs aren't willing to make them when looted parts are so much better

Hopefully this changes....>SOON

While I do maintain a small stock of crafted parts, most of the parts I've made have had to be custom jobs, to fill a certain function. Some people need the mass to be as low as possible to fit into the smaller ships, some need the most output in one area or another. Since every customer has a different requirement, it's difficult to mass produce components, and throw them on a vendor.

ummmm... what server are you playing on for this to be the problem? my vendor has maybe one of each chassis on the vendor. and the main vendor has over 300 other items. my missile countermeasure vendor is pushing 150 crated items... /shrug
