Hello,
I looted this shield from a gunboat in kessel and wanted to know if it has any RE value..
SOROSUUB ION-MESH PROJECTION SYSTEM
Level 10
Armor 50 / 50
HP 100.0 / 100.0
Mass 0.0
Front Shield 0.0 / 0.0
Back Shield 0.0 / 0.0
Shield recharge rate 0.00
Reverse Engineering Level 0 ( yes, that's a zero also )
And the discription is the generic discription that they give to shields..
Most of the stats suck, but the 0 mass would be nice. Not sure what the reactor drain would be, wasn't listed.
I placed this on my YT1300 and had no shields.
Any ideas?

Since you need 10 lvl 10 shields to RE 1, that would be fine for filler. Obviosuly none of those stats would apply to the final object, since any stat would be the better stat than across the board zeros.
You'll find a lot of high level looted components have pretty low stats, since they're mainly for filler. In the case of something like a level 10, there's no reason to put your 10 best things in there, since at least five of them wont have any effect on the resulting reverse engineered component.

I'm curious, did you try to repair it? This isn't the first instance I've seen of a 0-stat item, and I just had the thought that it might be broken... and repair would fix the stats? Worth a shot, imo.

"That component is not damaged"
That is the message I got when I attempted to repair it.

give it a whirl and see what happens. but you might loose 9 lvl 10 shields in the process but you never know till you tried.

well.. a mass of zero and good shielding stats would be awsome!!
If I would have that shield, I would give it a shot for sure.. just to figure out what will happen!

Well the item level is 10 BUT the RE level is 0? if it's 0 I'm unsure if it can be RE'd at all.

If the RE lvl is 0, then you won't be able to RE it. You have to match the RE levels, not the component levels. You'll have to put 0 components into the tool.

Ok just to throw some fun crazy logic in with this statement
It takes a number ofcomponents, with an RE level equal to eachother, equal to the RE level in the tool to RE something. With an RE level of 0 you need no components with no RE level (RE of 0) in the tool to use the tool, like said above. Add this information with the fact that the tools base contents is equal to 0 items with no RE level in it. Combine them together and it means that the very exestance of this item means that you can use the tool just after making it and geting a component out of it.
So, in conclusion..... 42
And if any one gets that, HAZZA! I sence the geekdom in you
