Thread: Experimentation @ 0(zero) risk... Critical Failure!?

Where does it say 0 risk?

Anyway, I fully agree that the randomness in crafting is a bad thing. It should be removed from the game entirely. Especially considering that we do not have proper factory support to limit the impact of this randomness.

Critical fail on assembly is no risk. You can just repeat your build. Nothing lost. It does not make any sense there.

On experimentation, not on assembly.

And yes something is lost - a statistic that started reading 24% drops to 0% and can't be recovered.

The 0% risk is for general failure.

Critical Failures are just random (bad) luck.

It's always been there.

I must have very bad luck then. I can craft 10 items and get 2-3 items that critical failure at assembly or experimentation. I don't find that to be very random.

Really this has no effect on game play other than making people mad that they lost resources and hard work. I make droids and some of them take (just guessing) 5-10 subcomponents of which several of them take subcomponents of there own. For me its mostly the time that I loose on critical failures sense they don't take that much resources.

I say take it out, it will only make people happier to play an artisan.

Why on earth would it say ZERO risk and still be able to critical fail? That makes absolutely no sense.
Either there IS risk or there IS NOT.

This is getting on my nerves... I suffer from "colossal bad luck", and 3 Critical Fails on 3 consecutive items that read "0 Risk" is getting a tadd annoying.

/end rant.

Are you using the best possible tool and crafting station? I find that critical fails on experimentation happen more often on public stations and poorly made private stations as opposed to good home models.

That's false.

You'll likely find that your 'good home station' is in a city that is a Research Centre.

The ratings on Crafting tools and Crafting Stations are meaningless.

So using a tool with a 0.00 Rating and a Private Crafting Station droid is going to give the exact same results as a 15.00 tool and a 42.00+ station?

I'd like to see some data on that.

Ask on the architect forum. I believe the general consensus there is that the rating on crafting stations have no effect at all. Or that the effect is so small that it is not worth bothering. It might be the same with crafting tools but on the other hand it is easy to make a good tool - so why not use a good one just in case?

The only hard data I know of is here:http://swg-cantina.com/pages/frating/frsum.html

hmmm I know you craft alot by hand and therefore will get a full stomach in notime but.....

Bespin port really helps keep the crits away... When I do RIS and other stuff containing fun stuff I always get drunk as a skunk..

Seems to be exceptionally high failure rate on Tier 4 items.

My tool is 14+ and my station is 44.5.

So that isn't it.

I average a critical failure once out of every 5 experiments, whether I use all points at once or one point at a time is irrelevant.

It's extremely nonsensical imo to go through the trouble of doing it one point at a time to maintain 0 risk when the odds show I'll have a critical failure at some point in that line, completely wiping out the statistic I'm toying with.

This needs to be fixed IMO.
