Hi there,


What prices have you planned for selling retroengineered loot ?


I was thinking about (level of retroengineering x loot level) x 1000 credits. So a Level 3 loot engine with RE level 2 will be sold for 6 k ...

Up to about Loot level 5. Above that its a free call ... maybe add another factor of 2 or 3 to reflect the problems of finding many similiar parts.

It almost has to be a "by the part" price. I have seen level 5 stuff that couldnt compare to a level 1 and so on. So its better to value it by its stats then an overall price guide.


I have two looted parts in my ship. One is a capicitor that has max 1200 energy. I would sell it for around 10 to 20k if I wanted too. The other is a booster with max speed at 36, max power at 1500, and drain at 94. Probably sell it for twice the cap if I wanted. But I could sell both for almost anything if I really wanted.

Reverse engineering will be a tough market to price. I don't think your formula works well for high end items, especially when you need nine level 9 items to complete a RE at that level. I sold a level 9 reactor yesterday, non-RE'd for 100k. Frankly, I didn't know what to sell it for, so I just threw it on my vendor to test the market. It sold within a day. Now take nine level 9 parts and RE them. That's 900k to arrive at 1 item. Can you then sell it for 1 million? For one part? I don't know...don't have an answer.

More likely a pilot will come to you with their collection and want you to RE them, like slicing for smugglers. Not sure what one should charge for that service. Probably a straight fee of something like 1k per RE level. Doesn't matter what the actual tech level of the part is if the pilot has all the components (for pricing the service that is).

Yes teh loot should be sold on a per item basis...some lvl 3 is better than other lvl 3...even better than the best SW level 3. So you gotta know your market.

As for the RE'n...I started doing a 1k per RE level....so if you have 2 of teh same parts, its 2k, 3 parts is 3k, etc etc. Seeing as its almost free credits...why n

As I said in my opening post I think my suggested formula only is valid for items up to level 5. High end items are to-be-negotiated-prices and most likely reserved for YCS anyway.


Yes, some parts are better than others, but I wont bother with that. May the customer look and decide .. and the stuff that does not sell will be deleted by me after 1-2 months from the vendor. Saves a lot of time. Also brings back the customer often for a look-see :-) If he needs something special, well, i am there to craft it :-)
