So how is everyone doing? My business is BOOMING. Made 12 mil the first day, and no less that 6 mil every day since. Of course I can no longer walk around un-AFK'd, since I get tell'd so often, but I'm working very well with my customers once they start using email as their primary means of communication
. One problem that immediatly popped up was a lack of enough steel, but I solved that with a couple timely purchases this week, and through dropping 33 heavy mineral harvestors on a sweet 82% spot this morning right after server up (minerals shifted this morning). I'll be able to keep 33 heavies on steel every week, and still have 10 more lots to use for gas/chemical/fusion. So my reliance on resource sellers will be limited.
As I look around my own galaxy I see a a very enthusiastic reception to JTL. Many people who were skeptical of it prior to launch have come around. I've seen posts in my galaxy forum from some of these people, which is very encouraging. And I see a vibrant new economy for out products. SOE needs to continue placing new, and exciting content in space, as they continue to do so on the ground. Doing so, the sky is the limit with this new combined ground/space game.
Overall, I'd say my assessment is very positive.

With all do respect, this does not sound like "a state of the profession" thread.. You start off by saying how much money you made, then you talk about lack of steel (which isn't the professions fault), then you talk about having harvesters.. In the second paragraph you make good positive comments about JTL, and SOE... How and where in your thread did you really talk about Shipwright?
I don't mean to berude but I came to this thread hoping to discuss aspects of theprofession which concerned me.. Which are.... I feel the critical failures for SW's is a bit high considering that we have to craft everything by hand. Although I've had allot of fun, this profession needs some work. I believe SW needs more factory support. I also believe the resource demands should be lowered for high level ships. But, for the most part Im enjoying shipwright..

Too many Tells.
Not Enough Steel.
Needs Factory Support for Components, so orders can be filled quicker and more customers made happy.

Aluminum and fiberplast are my limiting factors on grinding chassis to finish to master. The only downside to all the harvesters is that it takes me about 3-4 hours to collect from them all and service them since I have them on every planet except Yavin 4. I am hoping to find some surveyor nut that I can guild and put in charge of the harvester operation. I don't mind doing it, it is just a time thing right now.
Not sure if you've heard this yet, but there is a world map/vender registration bug that was introduced with JTL. We can now register venders under a SHIPS category, but there is no SHIPS category on the world map. Meaning, any vender you register under that category is no longer visible on the world map. So we continue, mostly, to advertise under the equipment section. Sigh. LOL.

Luckily, I am a resources supply company too...
Steel is definitely in high demand! Business is booming. The issue most people are having that buy ships is what to do with them afterwards... hehe... just a training issue on this point.
I wonder if the resource amounts and such will be reviewed at some date in the future... some things make sense... others don't. Rather than getting any more specific... I will let this lay for now since I am still trying to get use to everything.
One immediate thing I see this doing (needing so many types of resources) is it is definitely going to help all those harvester companies and resource suppliers that popped up within the last few months before JTL.
I am on the Gorath server.

So far it sounds as if everyone shares my view about the profession.. that it's being regarded with enthusiasm? That things look very positive for JTL?

I'm a master architect aswell, I've been collecting resources for JTL for about 6-7 months now. I was able to gather about 400 million units, of which half of that is steel. Even with my stockpile I believe the resource requirments for high lvl ships is a bit much.

I'm having a great time! My vendors are stocked fairly well, for at least an hour after I pump some out anyway. I've made a bunch of custom orders as well. I mastered shipwright on the 27th, I managed to pick up my copies on the 26th. Nothing's cooler than getting a tell from space sayng "this ships owns dude Thanks!",a close second is getting another tell of"I'll be back when I hit the next tier"
