Thread: Which level counts at reengineering?

Hi! I'm a novice Shipwright on Corbantis and I have a question about reengineering, which I still havent found an answer for:
I understand that you can reengineer parts of the same type and RE level without them having the same name. Must they also have the same Cert level? Since the RE level is not always the same as the Cert level, it would be quite interesting to RE for example a Cert 8, RE 3 component with two Cert 3, RE 3 compos. Is this possible? If so, this would make high Cert, low RE level components quite valuable, no?

its a bit hard to figure out what your asking but i will try to give an answer anyways.

The items all have to be the same reverse level and it requires an equal amount for the reverse level. not all parts are the same in Cert level and reverse level. They are two seperate numbers.

For you to be able to reverse items. you have to one, have the skill level for the level of reversing and also the skill of the item your reversing. so if your novice, you can reverse any level 1 item. if your a 2,0,0,0 you can reverse armor up to the level 5. if your 0,4,0,0 you can reverse engines and boosters up to level 9.

I hope this helps answer your questions.

If read this right as well if say that have a Droid interface of cert level 10 with a RE level of 3 and you were to RE it with thwo other cert evel 3 wuth re level 3 what level would it come out at? If thats the question it seems from my working that the first object that you put in the tool sets the default name and level. Thus you could put in a kuate, sinner and mon call items and get a default of kuate if put it in first or sinner if it was first in or min call if it was first in. I have not tested this other than using a cert 10 DI and 2 cert 3 and got a cert 10 out of it though the cert 10 was what i put in first. Will doible check when get another off cert level item

Ok, to clarify: I just wanted to know, if it's even possible to RE parts together, which have the same RE level but different Cert levels. From sbob's answer I guess, yes it's possible, and the Cert level of the resulting component is the same as the first component put into the analysis tool. Have I got this right? Can you RE parts resulting in the stats of, say, Cert level 8 but the mass of Cert level 3, provided you have a Cert level 8, RE level 3 looted component? This would give some powerful REd components.
And just to be sure: Do you lose anything (components, analysis tool charges) if you try to RE parts together, which cannot be REd together?

The tool is somewhat smart and will not let you put in an item that has already been RE'ed or that does not match the level of what is in there alread. And in my test that did recently I had a cert 10 DI and 2 cert 3 DI's and put them together and got a cert 10 DI. Was also the cert 10 that put in first (Was not paying atentoon when put it in there). Have noticed that this happens alot with DI's and sometime engins but not much else have the diff cert and re levels. Will check tonight when get on and see if can test it more.

OK for REing parts it's the RE level that counts not cert level

You will find parts with cert level/re level different from each other ie engine with a cert of 4 and and re of 2 (4/2) now you can re that part with another 4/2 or a 2/2.

Now the first item you put in will determnine what level the part is what it looks like and it's name (if you do not change name).

4/2 + 4/2 = level 4 cert
4/2 + 2/2 = level 4 cert
2/2 + 4/2 = level 2 cert

You need a number of parts equal to the RE level they must be same type armor, engine etc but the name has no effect on re parts.
