I am not a shipwright but i have a question regarding the price of looted components.
As i understand it, every time you RE a component there is a chance you will generate a schematic bit for the firespray. Given that a level 1 component gives you 1 RE per component, shouldnt level 1 RE components be the most valuable of the lot?
Justfor arguments sake, lets say a firespray schematic (3-5 uses?) is worth 20mill and it takes 1500 REs to get the 8 bits. Thats 13K per level 1 component, less per component as the levels go up. Just rough figures but i'd be willing to bet they are conservative. Would probably be more accurate if a price can be established per schematic bit.
In keeping with the major theme of the pricing threads, shouldn't all pilots be insisting that you pay the real value for their components, regardless of theeffort involved in gaining them?
Not a flame, just pointing out that the business model door swings both ways. Maybe us pilots should get together and establish a component pricing system of our own

You're assuming that it only takes 1500 REs to get those 8 bits. Some people have said they've done as many as 500 combines with no frags, then got 2 in the space of 100. I'm at 180 pieces now, and have gotten 3. You are also assuming, they won't be duplicates. Of my 3, 2 are 7/8 pieces.
I've been buying all space loot off the bazaar that was prices 3k or less. I RE it, then sell it for 4k per RE level.
You're also assuming the schematic would be worth 20 million.....
You're also assuming that live won't be like beta, with disk fragments dropping as high end loot. Just because they're rare now, doesn't mean they will be later.

yep, i am assuming all those things. Until we get some more data thats all we can do.
Once a price for each schematic bit is established the duplicate issue becomes mute.
The fact that you can resell the REed component ADDS to the originals price!
You're experience (3/180 or 1/60) makes the components way more valuable per unit than my assumptions! (even with dups).
You're comment about rarity in the future may well be true, i'm talking about now

I don't pay for parts to RE. I have a whole PA giving them to me, plus customers asking me to RE and give them the part back. Some people are even willing to pay for RE like slicing.
Getting a Firespray fragment is a nice side bonus, but I will never pay for a component, hoping to get a fragment.
I typically sell REd items for
Level 1 1000
Level 2 5000
Level 3 10000
I haven't gotten any level 4 stuff to sell yet. Assuming that I would possibly pay 100 for level 1 items, 500 for level 2, and 1000 for level 3. That is based on resale value. Since I have to sit on the parts, and possibly never sell it, I have the 10x markup.

Wondering what people are selling REd components for. I just started to RE en masse last night and created a vendor for it, which I will not open to the public until I get my stock up, but I did start pricing. I'm starting off with the cost of all the parts used (assuming 1k per level of item)to RE (not including the cost of tool) x 2. So level 1 stuff costs 2k, level 2 costs 8k, level 3 costs 18k, etc. If I come across a real nice mix of stats, I'll tack on a small extra fee. For example, I created a level 2 weapon last night with good damage and .94 vs shields, .85 vs armor, so I listed it for 10K instead of 8.
Do I seem in the realm of reason here, or am I going to price myself out as the level of items goes up. A level 10 item would end up costing 200k using this simple little formula.

Doesn't seen unreasonable, and trust me - the level 10 items I've RE'd so far have been WORTH 200k.

I've been doing the cost of the item, plus one more of that level. People seem to like the prices, and it keeps them somewhat in line with crafted components. If I get a particually good or bad item I'll adjust the price accordingly.
