Thread: New sub-componets for Master level MP ships

Currently these large multiplayer ships use the same armor and shields as starfighters, which just isn't right. I've seen posts about adding a second shield to them, butI have another idea. A new sub component. Something along the lines of "assault ship ___ upgrade" It would fit in the same slot of markV components that the current upgrades do, but would increase the effected stat by about three times the standard mark V upgrades. Now it would also add a large amount to the mass, this way they would not find their way into the starfighters. As an example, using perfect resources and experimentation you'd have a piece of armor with about 7500 armor points and it would weigh in around 150K mass instead of 2600 armor points and 30K mass. This would be easy to load into one of the large ships due to their huge mass limits. These would be available for armor, capacitors, reactors and shields. I wouldn't do it for weapons because you don't want these ships one-shoting high level npcs and palyer craft. I just want to see these ships as the big bad boys they are supposed to be

Thank you sumner! I mastered pilot 2 days ago and right away got a, Nova Cruiser for 500k
. I got a group of guys together and decided to see if anyone needed help with the corvette. Of course someine did so i joined them and when the corvette finally arrived i was very happy. Lol two things, nounber 1 you can not maneuver a Nova in behind the Corvettes engines and Number 2 why does my nova crack in half after taking 3 hits from a corvette? I know i know the Nova isn't suppose to be as good as a corvette but come on three shots! Any way i agree completely. shields and armor on these big boys is to weak, we need more.

My favorite of ideas I've seen posted:
Give MP ships multiple shield/armor/reactor/capacitor slots (maybe engines, too), and have the stats stack. That simplifies things, since you don't have to create new items for shipwrights to craft or to add to the loot tables.
Imagine loading uptwo 1800/1800 shields to double your fun.

Either idea would be great, just something must be done. Last night i did my first Tier IV mission, and in it there were two novas, a decimator a bunch of ties, x-wings and y-wings. It was fantastic to see! The novas and the decimator duking it out as the fighters were just in one big @$$ furball all around the mini-capitol ships. I don't want to see these ships become unstopable tanks, but I do want to see them near as good as the npc ships. It is just wrong that one pilot in a high level fighter would have no problem taking out one of these with five people on it, they should be at least twice as tough as a PC fighter.

This isn't a new idea, this is how master ships worked during beta.

ever look at a few of the items crafterd for ships? you'll see the word starfighter in them. What we need is either the ability to place multiple items in the ship.... 3 reactors, 1 capicator per weapon, each turrent mounting up to 4 weapons, mulitple engines that have somesort of ad-up effect. A shield generator that covers a single vector of the ship, and effectly doubles the bonus it applies... 2 boosters... so on and so on...
OR the ability to craft or loot some sort of new hoss component that can only be placed on a MP ship but has sweet stats. The Decimator is refered to as a battleship, I belive I've seen the nova courier refered to as a small destroyer.... the Faclon (only yt-1300 with known background) had military grade shielding, armor plating stripped from an IDS, and weapons that were 1 catagory under turbolaser. The ships could mount a turbolaser, but Han couldn't 1 get one to work on the ship, and 2 they are very ineffect against fighters.
MP ships need to be able to take a pounding and seriously dish one out.
