Thread: The Best Weapon/Upgrade Combo...

Howdy,

I've been experimenting a lot lately with different combinations of weapons types and upgrades in my ship (I'm a master shipwright). I am wondering what all of your opinions are on the best weapon combo's. My own thoughts are included below:

Opinions of this type are somewhat dependent on one's choice of flying/dogfighting style.

1) As far as marketability is concerned, the Max Damage upgrades tend to be best, just because novice flyers that haven't considered the other options much see the huge number by max damage and think "wow this is one heck of a weapon!!".

2) From my own personal experience, I have found that my favorite weapon combo is a shield effectiveness upgraded ion cannon (.910, ~2500 max, typical others) coupled with an armor effectiveness upgraded disruptor (.910, ~2500 max, typical others) (I am 4333 rebel pilot, so I'm using advanced models). I like this combo because it allows me to achieve nearly the equivalent damage as using two blasters against shields or armor using only one weapon (which conserves capacitor energy). Once shields and armor are down, I fire both weapons for the kill. I am able to solo groups of Tier IV and V ships in the Dath system using this combo with remarkable ease.

3) The quick shot upgrade, while cool because it makes you fire a lot quicker, doesn't seem to be all that useful practically, because I have found that it doesn't help me land any more shots than before, and it also eats up the capacitor awfully quick.

4) It's hard to say whether max damage or min damage upgrade is the best statistically, as there is no damage log to compare (is there ANY way to see how much damage a shot has done to a ship?).

i disagree. the shield/armor eff sub component is usless imo because all it does is move from one stat to another, it doesnt add anything. the max dmg one adds alot more to max damage than it takes from min damage. quickshot is my favorite since you dish out alot more damage over time.

i think what you are missing is weapon overload 3 and capacitor overload 3-4 in your droid. if you had those then you would realise how much the quickshot upgrade helps.


a normal blaster has a refire rate of about .35

a quickshot blaster is around .27


thats about 22% faster firing.


a max damage advanced blaster with 2800 max and .35 refire will do around 8000 damage a second max

a quickshot advanced blaster with 2500 max and a .27 refire will do 9250 a second max and also has a higher min damage so the average will be taht much higher.

of course this is really not all that useful since re'd loot guns are the only way to go unless you are new and dont have the loot yet.
