Hey everybody. I am mostly a pilot in-game, but now i am starting shipwright. I know a lot about the shipwright profession, however. I thought of this recently. I hope it is not too late to institute it into the game.

The Problem: Shipwrights buy and use the same resources as any other crafting profession. However, they need a much larger amount of the same resources to create their items. This obviously makes sense, it should take a substancially larger amount of materials to make a spaceship than it does to build a droid. Shipwrights buy more resources to craft the same amount of items than other crafting professions. Because they put more resources into each item, shipwrights need to sell ships for more than other crafting professions sell thier goods. The problem with this is pilots, most of whom know nothing about crafting professions, will not pay what they deem to be 'obscenley large amounts of money' to 'greedy shipwrights' for these ships. In order to keep themselves in business, most shipwrights have had to offer their ships at a much lower CPU than most other crafting professions offer their goods at. The result of this is that shipwrights both pay the most for their resources and also receive the least for them.

The solution. The root of the problem is that shipwrights and other crafting professions use the same resources, bought at the same price. The solution to this problem is to make different resources for shipwrights. One unit of a 'space' resource could be equivelant to 10 units of normal resources, or something like that. These resources could even be gathered in space: space mining. This would help even shipwright out against other crafting professions and help shipwright business out a whole lot.

When JTL went live, each server started spawning a number of resources that shipwrights need specifically to craft upgrades. Only the best components can be made for upgrades, and most pilots are willing to pay a premium for upgraded components. In addition, many missile packs need High-Grade Polymetric Radioactive (which also starting spawning when JTL went live).

I don't understand how you think "space mining" is going to help shipwrights.

As a begining shipwright, I have a lot of novise and tier1 ships in my vendor priced at 1 cpu, but I keep seing shipwrights selling ships for as little as 0,1 CPU. That is what must change!
