I have a level 6 engine that I want to use to RE with my reward engine, but I have noticed that in the examine window it doesn't display a RE level at all. I am beginning to think that maybe it is a RE'd engine and I just didn't realize it (because it does have very good stats for a level 6 engine, and whoever named it if it was RE'd gave it a name like most loot has), but I could have sworn that I looted this thing and not bought it. Could this just be a display bug, or will I not be able to use it?

If it doesn't have an RE level, that should mean it's either crafted (clearly not the case here) or it's loot that's already been RE'd. I suppose if you're just not sure, you can try dropping it in an analyzer tool. If it lets you, hurray; if it won't, that must mean it's already been RE'd.

One question with loot where RE level don't match equipment level: Which will the final level be if you combine loot with different levels?

If no RE level is displayed, it was indeed already RE'd, and cannot be done a second time.
If you have a part where the cert level is different than the part level, the RE level corresponds to the actual level of the equipment performance. Like weapon, booster, DI, and engine styles, the RE level will always be that of what was dropped into the tool first.
DI's are the most common to have differing levels; the silver / small profile ones are almost always cert lvl 10 but RE level 2 or 3.

I think you probably just didn't notice the level on the 1st DI you put in, I've never seen (nor heard of) coming out with a different cert lvl that what was put in, however from experience I can say with certainty that it's very easy to overlook.

I've had a couple of instances where RE'ing level 2 or level 3 items have resulted in Level 10's. I have not seen this happen since they "fixed" command speeds on DI's however.

Actually I am still getting loot that is Level 10 with an RE level of 3, but to date it's only been droid interfaces. I've gotten some Level 4 droid interfaces with an RE level of 6, which means when I RE those I get a L4 part with L6 attributes. I like it when that happens.

Reactors, droid interfaces, and boosters are the most notorious as far as I've seen. Organize it all to RE and then have to re-organize them because the damned level #s don't match up.
