Thread: Quickest way to space mine

I use my bulb with 2 lvl 3 mining lasters 1400 or so damage, but i know a tractor beam pulls in more, but you have to be right on the money to get one, whats the fastest way? 1500 hold is still to small, but its the biggest one i can get made

Should speed up with the release of pub 24, Y-8 quest should be fixed and that ship gets a bonus to mining i believe.

no it should be within a week or two i would guess, pubs seem to come about5-7 weeks apart

With the Tractor Beam the trick is to toggle it on and leave it on before you destroy the medium chunk. I usually destroy it from 100m and find that most of the small pieces are sucked up at once with one or two stragglers that are still very close. Takes me around 10 min to fill a 1554 cargo hold. I think that is as big as can be made under the current system

Since the current extraction rates are damage/100 i belive the Elite Y-8 Minning laser actualy pulls in quite a bit from each shot.
You can get decent extraction just using a Elite laser on the asteroids since the Y-8 has great turning rate at low speeds.
Also since the Cargo hold on the y-8 is like 35k you can sit up there for hours w/o having to land.
I have not actualy made a Elite Mining laser yet but I was up minning an asteroid and there was some one with a Y-8 and an elite and he ran toe to toe with me at minning rate, exept i had to stop every 10 minuts to unload and he kept minning during that time and thus he beat me out quite a bit.

Wow, nice. I may have to try using my Y-8. I question how I'd fare against asteroid pirates though.

Ignore them, fill the ship up with lvl 10 stuff and most pirats cant scratch your paint.
Also if your a freelance you can use the e-pulse.

I would love to, but they screw up my targeting macro that targets "Asteroid Pirate" before "Asteroid Chunk". Is there a workaround for that one?

Not realy but they can use the radar to see where they are. Just set it to 1000m and go for any green dots.
