HI there guys,

I recentlystarted a 2nd account and decided to go Master Shipwright.

Having now gotten this i am finding the management of resources a complete nightmare. I had a couple of requests from guildmates to deck out their Nova Courier and YT-1300's No problem i said give me a couple of days and i'll have it ready for you.I just seem to have resources everywhere and i'm struggling to keep control on what i use each time i build componnets etc so i'm getting different results all the time!! I'm not planning on trying to make the quickest engine or the most powerful reactor, just mid ranged - mid priced components

How do you guys keep on top of everything?? Have you any tips for a noob Master SW???

Alot of us pick up merchant and have storage vendors. Wait until you start collecting components for RE. lol In my shop, I have a tool chest for Chem and Gas, one for ores and copper, and one for metal. I put the resources I use the most in them. The rest go on a storage vendor. I used to keep a backpack with the current resources I was using for most of my crafting. It also helps to view resource containers and inventory with the two window view. That way you can click on a resource and see the stats in the left window.

I use a medium house and have bags labeled for each resources that i use, i only keep those resouces i use in the house, its better than a vendor cause nothing expires and stuff is easier to pick up. I keep a pack of about 30 resouces on my SW toon so he can craft straight out of that. One of everything is on my toon and the rest is in bags labeled by resource in my house.

5 Houses and 2 vendors and I still get the dreaded " This house has too many objects in it" message once in a while. So yes it is a storage and organizational nightmare but you will have to muddle through just like the rest of us.

Thanks guys, i've been losing sleep over this!!! I'll set my vendors and get my bags organised later

Just one more, what do you recommend when crafting your items,do you always try to produce the best you can??Or do most of you produce standard items and save all your best resources for one offs gulid mates etc??

Do you make have enough turnover on the low quality stuff or does everyone out there try to purchase the best available??

I only make something if I can make it the best on the server. It would be far too confusing and it would take up way too much of my time for me to keep track of premium resources and components vs. ordinary stuff. I do save a few resources a little, but for the most part all my components use the best possible resources I can. I learned my lesson when I spent about 5 million on some steel which had been the best but then another spawn came up which topped it. Not much use saving resources too much.

I have two accounts as well, and let me break down my lot usage for you:

  • 1 medium house serves as my shop. This is where I have located my vendors.

  • 1 medium house serves as my alt's storage (things like food, weapons, trophies, etc.)

  • 8 factories

  • 8 lots left for the purpose of harvesting

I do not store resources in either of the houses. Each factory has two backpacks in them labeled with the respective resources I keep in them. Here is a breakdown on my factory usage:

  1. Steel

  2. Ore

  3. Aluminum

  4. Inert Petrochemical

  5. Iron and Cooper

  6. Fiberplast

  7. Radioactive (both energy quality and HQ)

  8. Other (including crates of items that have overflowed from output hoppers)

I leave manufactured items in the output hopper until I need them. I keep the input hoppers nearly full with resources that I want to use first and rare resources (as I do not trust them to a vendor). Additional resources are relegated to bags that I keep on a vendor (that looks like an EG-6 power droid) placed right next to my crafting station. When using vendors for storage, please do not register them on the planetary map (I have seen too many players do this and I find it annoying when searching).
