You can use them anywhere and still be able to experiment with the stuff your building.

I used mine for grinding. I camped the SW trainer. lol I have not used it since because I find I have to go back to my storage for the resources anyway and my crafting station is there. When I get tells asking for stuff I just send them the wp for my vendor. They may have only wanted an engine but when they get to the vendor they ofter reequip their entire fleet. lol I make quality components and keep my vendor stocked.

Keep in mind these have a 0 effectiveness rating, while some people say that dosn't make a difference i have seen personally at least a great increas in crit fails on exp using my droid. it is however a nice convenience if you need something on the go
