Well every class gets exp for slicing, making items why dont we get exp for reverse enginnering?? it costs us money every time we do it and get nothing from it esp at lvl 1 its really useless at that point.

Btw its bugged you can't rename the item and you can't tell if it was reverse engineered.

If a whole guild wants me to reverse engineer stuff i use up my kits and get no skill its not realistic at all it would be much harder to reverse enginner something than make a ship hull from blueprints.

Shields are also bugged my friends ship i made for him keeps getting his engines blown up with full shields??

One word: Firespray. If a whole guild wanted you to RE their loot, you'd have it in no time flat. I've got five or six people feeding me loot, and I'm 1/2 way there as it is. Any money you lose on tools (which, lets face facts, are easily made from any old garbage resources laying around) you make up in spades by selling either the Firespray schematic, or the ship itself.

As for whether or not something's been RE'd, that's cake- look for the 'Reverse Engineering Level' stat, below all the rest of the component's stats. No RE stat, it's been re'd. I'm churning through a hundred components or more a night, and it's gravy once you get the hang of it.

I have no problem renaming a RE'd item. you can tell it if was RE'd beacsue all looted piece has a RE level in the stats, which disappears after being RE'd, and it will not have a maker's name.

As noted, dropped parts that haven't been REd still have "Reverse Engineering Level", not just cert level, in the details.

The reward for REing is the part you got for no resources, often better than you can make at that tier, and the chance at a firespray disk.
XP in shipwright is gained at 1 per 4 resources... or so. How many resources do you use when you RE? None.
Be glad you get the (miniscule) xp for making the analyzer, imo. =/

How many resources does a locked container ...none yet a smuggler gets exp for opening it.

What about slicing has nothing to do with resources per exp its as close as you can get to RE and they get exp for slicing.

Its a skill this is a skill based game all other classes get exp for using there skills, heck even having a merchant up gives exp, its a skill!.

As far as I know, when you Reverse Engineer something you have no chance of losing the part and failing the Reverse Engineer 'roll'.

With Slicing, you can 'fuse' the lock, break the weapon, bust the armor and completely lose the component being sliced, I also think you can make the item worse too.

There's a bit of a greater risk to Slicing then there is to Reverse Engineering. However, if the powers that be decide to make it possible to destroy or make worse the components being Reverse Engineered, then I agree with your summation that there should be XP given for Reverse Engineering.

Be grateful you don't get xp for RE. The first beta version I saw (and didn't get far in before it was changed) had a tree for RE (like the slicing tree). IT TOOK FOREVER! especially as you could only loot lvl 1 items for minimal xp. There were very few Starfighter Engineers around primarily because of it and quite a few were stuck at 4440 SW. RE is great as is imho.

The Shiro Clan of TC -
...has successfully tracked Tiggs
...is still tracking down more bugs
NB: Any comments I make on TC code can and often do change
before they reach live and may not reach live at all, please read my
comments with that in mind.

Agreed. I was one of those few Starfighter Engineers, it took hours of using a bugged reactor to get the necessary RE xp. RE is great the way it is now! I'm so glad they changed it, we shouldn't complain at all....

Im talking about getting shipwright exp for RE anything would be better than 0 even 10 exp per part, im not saying to change it to RE exp just make it give shipwight exp.

Grinding to master cost ALOT if you buy resources say 4cpu were talking over 25 million credits....
