12 points is a figure of speach.
I means you got 20+ from attachments to give you 2 addition experiment points.
Shipwrights got10, 12or 17 points. Depending on components.

What about the shipwright buff - does that give you extra experiment points?
What about being in a town labeled - research center?

What about the shipwright buff - does that give you extra experiment points?What about being in a town labeled - research center?
Both of those give you a better chance of getting Great or Amazing successes - they don't add to your total number of points used.

The SW buff gives your resources a 2% stat bonus.
It will allow you to experiment your item to a higher % than without buff.
