Thread: Get your input in before Wednesday please :)

Greetings Shipwrights,


If you have input on what you like/dislike about ROTW as a shipwright or have ideas for a shipwright quest, be sure to post it in the stickies before Wednesday night. I'll put it all together and post to the devs before I head out on Thursday the 12th. I'll be back on Monday the 16th.


I'll also try to get a couple of fellow correspondents to keep an eye on this forum and pass along any feedback from the Devs they see.

Hope they finally turn RotW on for me before then, want to check a couple of things against final beta before I give feedback.


Paid for it and all, just can't access it on our server

I've had much the same experience. I can collect asteroid resources much faster solo and in a starfighter. The Y-8 is a great looking ship and I love it, but it is not practical for mining which is supposed to be its primary function.


I took a 3-man crew up and tried to mine some asteroids and we could not make it work efficiently with a few different setups. I tried two mining lasers and one tractor beam, but it was difficult to even get the asteroids into the smaller chunks.


1) It is very hard to see your target as either pilot or turret gunner (muzzle flash from mining laser is right in your face).

2) Asteroid particles get out of range very fast.

3) Turrets have limited movement (especially the lower turret).


Hopefully something can be done to make the Y-8 more effective for mining. A few things that might help:


1) Add range and effectiveness for mining lasers and tractor beams.

2) Slow down the speed of the broken asteroids.

3) Make a special Y-8 tractor beam that has a very wide beam capable of sucking in multiple small chunks.


Add some more ideas and our voices may be heard.

By the way, lots of beta folks mentioned the turret issues and made many great suggestions on improving this ship including most of what you have presented. I can only assume this info is still in dev hands for when they get a chance to address it.
