Thread: New Asteroid Resource Made Ship Parts Market on Eclipse is Stillborn.
And solutions that require a full crew of 8 players to get any effeciency out of the ship is so impractical that they aren't solutions at all. Solutions are needed that work with the existing three crew positions. Any more people than that and you make it too much of an organization problem to bother with. It will be like planning a Death Watch Bunker raid just to go mining. Find a solution that works with a crew of at most three people else nobody will bother with the effort.
The DEV's either have to fix the Y-8 or put in unmanned automated asteriod resource harvesting to get the market started. Otherwise, they might as well figure that new schematics they put in the game is just alot of dead code that will just about never get exercised. I'd prefer that they fix the Y-8 and move its priority up the queue.

I'm in space mining asteroid resources about half the time I play. I also have two friends mining asteroids for me. Altogether I'm doing alright. And I love the novelty of new features and items, because players are willing ot pay unbelievable prices to be one of the first on their block with a new Mark III Mining Laser or Large Starfighter Cargo Hold. Soon I'll have enough to make elite components.
Problem is, it took me just about all weekend to mine enough resouces for a friend of mine to make me three Y-8 Only Elite Mining Lasers. And that was to equip my own Y-8 which ended up mining resources at a rate even slower than my M22-T Krayt with Mark III Mining Lasers. At that rate of resource extraction, nobody is gonna be selling any crafted items made from space resouces. It's all going to be custom jobs either done by friends or at prices equal to loot made weapons.
Well, things will be pretty much like you described and the mining will be done by starfighters with 2K cargo holds. And that's mainly because right now, for mining, the Y-8 is a POS.

With two Mark III Mining Lasers and a Large Cargo Hold in my TIE Advanced, I am able to collected about 6000 units per hour. I have two friends doing the same. Thus, I'm looking at 18K of asteroid resources every hour, which is better than most harvesters. Yes, it is our time that we have to take to do this, which justifies putting a high price tag on anything that requires asteroid resources. Yes, this makes the whole process even more "custom". However, I want the reosurces on hand, so that if Joe-the-Hutt comes and asks me for an Elite Shield Generator, he doesn't have to wait. Now, it becomes difficult if Joe, Jack, and John all come in a row. However, this whole process emphasizes where the devs want to take crafting (and the game in general)--a group effort.
