Thread: New Shipwright on a new server... Worth a try?

Hey...
So now that the CU includes non-combat professions, i thought up a little plan to get me a crafter on a new server (Right now i picked Chilastra...).
The plan is to level up combat in a group to master pistoleer/master smuggler, and then respec myself to Master Shipwright/Master Merchant.

Now, this is obviously going to take me at least a week to get to the dual master elites, and then respec, but that's not my concern.

My main concern is cash, and how "fast" i can build up. I want to get the skills asap so i can use the respec to avoid the crafting grind (wich i don't enjoy) and the merchant grind (wich on it's own takes a LOT of time), but the cash is going to be a problem, to get the first few harvesters, the first few bits of good shift resources, etc...

Do you guys think it's worth spending maybe a month to get a new character started on a new server, or should i bite the bullet, grind up my 3 last FS branches and wait for my last 3 FS quests to get a second character on the same server, where i have access to cash, a supporting guild i know since 2 years, etc...?

(Note that buying a new account is out of the question, lack of funds and motivation, one account is bad enough seeing how many times i cancel it a year and pick it back up )

All advice is welcome.

Avoiding the grind by respecing into it (although kind of cheating ) will definately be a time saver for you. I've always been a split combat/crafter so I had a decent amount of resources lying around but it was still a loooooong grind (it takes somewhere around 5.1 million resources to master).

However, respecing into shipwright might be a bad idea - to adequately stock a vendor also takes a ton of resources and most of the non-master chassis you see for sale were made by shipwrights during their grind to master.

I'd wait to unlock the 2nd character slot. Yeah, you get stuck doing the grind that way, but you'll have your alt as a cash supply and a guild to help you with resources and whatnot. Chassis are definately the way to grind out SW and if you practice mode half the time you'll end up with a decent stock of chassis ready for your vendor.

Actually i looked at the figures, and i ground architect, and it looks about the same amount, so i'm not scared, the main problem is not being able to make the top stuff out of the bat with a new character...

I guess it would be much better to just get me a few harvies, babysit them for a few weeks until i get enough res and grind SW... Or indeed wait for my other slot

Except the FS grind sucks...

Heh, I think i'm gonna get to a decent combat level and do a couple of easy ROTW quests and sell my loot to buy some harvesters...

heres another way then grinding a combat profession or another crafting profession then respecing. It is time consuming but cost no resources, and it is Image Designer

If you can't find soemoen to let you ID then you can ID yourself for half xp
