Thread: New shipwright engine 5/10/2005
Anyone have an pre-patch engine we could compare ?
Also, I don't think this increase was meant to complete with the reward engines, but to compete with your average looted engine.
I'm going log in in a bit and gather some more data.
NOTE: Though it is not in the patch notes, today Darth_Platypus said YPR would be given a boost as well. You can read this in the thread below, but it was after the patch notes had been posted.
Yes, it is possible that only speed got the boost this patch. We need a pre-patch top of the line engine to confirm though.

this is a note from IIscandar about the YPR thing. Notice that Darth_Platypus made the change after the patch notes. This means they won't get a boost until next patch.

then it would be pointless, because as a pilot, I am only using the best, if i am given a reward engine that I RE into perfection then I am never ever ever EVER going to buy one. In my opinion an RE engine would still be competition even IF they made the Y/P/R and speed exactly identical because 8k mass versus 14k mass is still incentive to collect RE components. It is the best of both worlds.. crafted engines still perform like great engines but RE'd ones give you the mass advantage of putting heavier weapons into place.

Correct. My YPR changes were too late for this patch. You should see these in the next one.

That said, the speed boost to engines is in, as well as the recharge
and energy figures on capacitors, so please continue with the feedback
on that and I'll continue to tweak those numbers as needed.
Thanks.

good news.. I found a MarkIV that i made the last time they upped crafted engine speeds.. it was in my Bwing (another ship where Y/P/R matters less). At the time I spent everythig in speed and then went to Y/P/R with left over points and used a engine overdriver.
Armor: 346.4/346.4 (beaten to heck from corvette mission)
Hitpoints: 766.5/766.5
Reactor Energy Drain: 2325.2
Mass: 13425.0
Pitch rate max: 51.9
Yaw rate max: 51.9
Roll rate max: 50.9
Engine top speed: 90.3
Without an example for a crafted level 8 engine it's hard to tell if I would use the crafted ones in chenirs ryjkldfwhatever or re'ed loot still, I cannot really cover any other engine levels as I do not use them
Here's what I just crafted
Both where lvl 9 engines with mark V overdriver
First one focused on top speed
YPR 53.7
Engine top speed 117.1 ![]()
Next Focused on YPR
YPR 58.4
Engine top speed 98.9
I'll make a set of lvl 7's but wow, I'd say that speed adjustment is well done !
