Thread: REing for people

If someone brings you a collection of loot that they held on to and asks you to RE it, do most of you charge them for this or do you just do it for them? If you do charge, what fee do you all use?
I do not charge if they are providing all the parts themselves but I do accept tips and ship loot if they want to donate it. I also make a point of looking at the parts they give me and if I know I can improve upon their stats with a part of my own I give them the opportunity to buythe part from me.
As to a fee to RE if thats what you choose to do most SWs charge around 1k per level of the item RE'd. So 4k for a level 4 part......8k for a level 8 part etc. Since doing RE once the parts are selected is really just a matter of pushing a few buttons and naming the item I find that getting tips, spare loot and the repeat business of happy customers is worth not setting a fee.

Oh..sorry I should have read that line a little closer. If your saying they give you a whole bunch of loot that you have to sort thru and figure out what to RE and find the best stats yourself then thats another matter. I would definitely charge for that since its taking your time and effort to find the best selections out of that pile of loot. I would charge what you think is reasonable based on how much time it takes you to get it all done. Say for example you are able to REseveral different components out of that pile of loot I would charge at least 2k -4k for each part you had to handle to make each RE. So if you made a level 8 gun using all his parts but had to sort and find the right stats to combine I would charge 16k - 32kfor that job. 8K - 16k for a level 4 item, 4k - 8k for a level 2 item etc. based primarily on how quickly you were able to analyze the parts and throw them together into the RE tool.

Haven't taken on the guy yet, as I want to assure the vitality of my funding source, but then again, my REs are pretty much always multi-million credit items, so 100k per day on retainer isn't bad for me so long as I make enough to cover it and add more.
