Thread: Just wanted to know about strakes
Purely cosmetic.
Those ships that have a Modifications slot (when looking at the ship management screen) have corresponding schematics. You build those strakes/fins/whatever, and the pilot plugs them into their ship like any other component.
First, strakes are a component that you add to the chassis modification slot of your ship (if your ship supports a chassis modification slot).
Second, strakes are strictly decorative. They do NOTHING. Waste of money.

No, they don't--take them off and make note of your chassis statistics once in space, land, put them back one, launch and note the chassis statistics again. The chassis statistics will be the same.
There was talk during the RotW beta of winglets and strakes increasing a ships mass capacity. However, this never materialized. It was probably just a rumor.
