Thread: Suggestions for Shipwright

Here's once again my perennial request forcreative ideas to assistshipwrights.

1. Personal Shuttlecraft: Novice shipwright can craft a personal shuttlecraft that will take you from shuttleport to shuttleport for free (andwithout the 60 second wait for a shuttle for you overachiever types). Since we now have party barges and vehicles with multiple passengers, how about allowing a group to travel by personal shuttle as well?

2. Reverse Engineer: Please give us the ability to craft a limited use schematic instead of an actual item so that we may use a factory to create a limited (5?...10?...25?...) run of reverse engineered items when we get a really good one. The higher level ones especially are hard to come by and we normally must be Master class pilots as well to have any hope of acquiring the multiple original items necessary.

3. Experience: Please allow us to convert our shipwright experience to FS crafting experience at whatever exchange rate you feel is appropriate. Keep in mind that the resource/experience ratio is far less for shipwrights that any other profession (even architect). Of courseif you have unlimited resources you can rack up quite a bit of SW experience in a very short time...

Please post your suggestions as well.

In regards to FS conversion i believe the devs stated that JTL and the villagewere not supposed to have anythign to do with eachother. Maybe this changed with teh jedi starfighter though.

I think the idea of reverse engeneering is to get one good component out of a bunch of ok ones, otherwise the market would be soley built upon RE'd items.

The shuttle idea sounds cool though

While I don't think this is a bad idea, I don't think it really adds much to the game either. Shuttleports are cheap enough, and fast enough, and still leave a bit of immersion to the whole experience. Even though you might have a ship and could fly anywhere you want, if there's nowhere to park your ship you leave it where it's at and use the public transportation. No big deal. On top of that, how would you solve the problem of when people leave there ships at a player shuttleport and then the shuttleport is deleted?

2. Bad idea. The reverse engineering system is perfect the way it is, and you'd end up getting the argument from crafters that most RE'd parts are better than crafted and that it would just drive more of them out of business, bla bla bla. Not broken, don't fix it.

I could go either way on this issue, but respect the devs decision to separate JTL from FS quests, since after all Jedi have no advantages in space.

My response to that is, unless I am missing something really important, the crafters and the reverse engineers are all shipwrights, yes? So why would they complain?

Second of all, my experience has been that you can loot a much better component than you can make. Player crafted stuff is really only good for starting out at a certain tier, then the pilots will find better stuff and use that. Or perhaps the pilot will bank the stuff they looted at alower tier and not buy the crafted components at all. Which explains why player crafted ship components just rot on a vendor. (I get more sales from folks looking to make an RE "full house" of looted gear than any of my precious handcrafted components.)

Allowing a limited "run" of RE'd components would put some demand back into the component market.
