Ok, I have not fully thought through the numbers here, or the difficulty of coding this idea into the game, it just seems like a good one so here goes.

How about our friends the architects get a nice new schem (or 5) for a trading space station, these could vary in size, and be available to all professions (although I will discuss what I would like to see here as a shipwirght, dont take that as a exclusion for other professions).

I see it working something like this.

The trader can setup a space station, these could vary in size, but would be a lot smaller than a typical landing station. The size being determined by the schem made by the architect (and its lot count determined by that etc etc). A customer can dock with this station much like entering a piece of fixed ground real estate. It should have energy usage on it as well as a cash per hour cost.

Inside the station, have a trading floor, and maybe a crafting area, again much like the ground game, observing vendor count restrictions just as on the ground. At this point I would like to go back to the idea of starship viewing terminals proposed in other threads. Having one of these on board would greatly enhance a MSW ability to assist customers getting the best loadout, maybe even making this work something like an image designer, where we can tinker with the components used, then set a price. It would let the customer test stuff a LOT faster.

Aside from being cool, and being more in fitting with the idea of starships and the like, this could actually serve as a idea platform for the progression of JTL.

Further idea expansion could include test drives of ships, loadouts, social areas for partys etc...

Expand and comment please (including other traders professions ideas for what THEY want to see, after all you could turn one of these into a mall)

Cool idea. Too bad SOE will never implement it. There's a lot of potential for orbital structures, asteroid harvestors, nebula gas extractors, etc. Maybe even space based factional stations with their own little space turrets, similar to ground bases.

Yeah I know had to get that one in the open though

Ed,how does anyone know what they will and will not implement? Are you a dev or are you still bitter about the game?

Chiwawa, I think its an awsome idea. Something that can be looked into in the future. I don't see it implemented anytime soon if they go for it. I honestly would even bet they have thought about such things. It would be hard to make in coding, but it would be something that could happen in a future expansion. They got a lot of ideas, they just haven't shared most of them with us cause we have to many angry and bitter people who would use the ideas agains the devs.

The only big problems i would see is, well one, the coding would have to be created, two, database space. It is an idea that has been tossed around. who knows, it might just show up someday.

Maybe I am too bitter, although not with this game, i've been there seen it and done that on a few mmorpgs to know that the devs rarely take on board fully ideas. Scratch that, its not the devs, its the producers.

But we can all hope

I know one of the big issues devs have with mmorgs is that there is never enough room or power on a server and database to put everything in a game. And there is only so many devs to do all the projects. Some ideas would end up taking to much power or way to much time for to few people.

I am a tech in a silicon company. i make certain computer parts and it still amazes me that a computer even works with all the possible things that can go wrong with it. And i mean things that only an electron microscope could see. But with all the amazement i get, computers keep getting faster and stronger. So, some day in the future, we will have awsome things put into the games. And maybe then producers will open their pocket books a little more and hire more devs to work.

I started a thread a month back with a bunch of things i would love to see put into the game. But i also put a disclaimer that i never will expect to see any of it and if it did come, it would be purely in future expansions.

I do remember reading that the devs want to make Hutts player charactures. So if they ever figure out that one, i am sure there will be tons of other things in the game that we wanted or even never thought about that we would want. but yeah, mostly anything we wish for never comes. I guess it all depends on our wishes and what can be made.

I remember 7 years ago thinking how cool a "MMORPG" would be, although I did'nt know then that this is what it would be, now its here However I do feel the producers of such games could be a little more vocal with the customer on what they are doing/planning/considering. The community produces a LOT of good ideas, a customer liason officer is really a position that should be filled full time for the forums.
