Hello I was just thinking the other day, which is becoming more seldom these times of bugs ,

Ships do not have decay, right? if they do not read any further.

How is the shipwright suppoed to make money? I mean all the things they make do not decay, and the people buying the stuff, the good stuff pass it along their guild rather than selling it or destroying it. Which leads to the conclusion that the shipwright marked is going to be saturated VERY quickly and they wont be able to make money.

please tell me how they can make money and what its like being a shipwright, feel free to come with new thoughts on the matter as well

Thank you

I'm still finding trade good, there was a lull over christmas but thats to be expected.

Yes without decay, it will be a difficult game in the long haul, i suspect people will replace stuff when it gets low, simply because its a pain having everything conk out on your ship the second the armor is breeched.

Apart from that, yep the whiners have sucessfully ruined the long term chances of the profession, unless your into missile or armor building

Ships decay everytime they get destroyed or even if armor is penetrated.

Had to scrap my good old longprobe because of that

Same thing happens to weapons.

Still think there would be money in it, if there where more people jumping to lightspeed

Its even worse for architects, theres absolutely zero decay on any level for their products. Buy once and yer done for life. I know cuz i got both an architect and shipwright. But i do still enjoy both profs quite a bit.

The decay issue is like beating a dead horse man. Here are some reasons why:

- Ships do decay everywhere except Deep Space.

- The only reason to go to Deep Space (now that you get a big load of nothing for either the SD or RB) is PvP.

- The ground game has proven that if there is decay in PvP then nobody will do it (effectively the same as no decay).

- Most of the pilots Ihave talked topretty much stopped flying shortly after hitting master. Since there is nothing to do except run duty missions or PvP after master most people get bored quickly and go back to the ground.

- Several other professions have survived without any decay on their items either.

- Since shipwrights by default (since you have to have JTL to get shipwright) have access to what is currently the easiest way to make money that has ever come to this game, which is space. They are unlikely to make major changes so that they can "survive" in their chosen profession.

This is a load of crap, I'm sorry to say. Anyone who likes or prefers PVP left this game long ago. So you can't make sweeping generalizations like that.

Some of them (like me) came back for JTL. I don't bother with "pvp" on the ground now (and since decay was there for a long, long time it isn't the reason) and I'll only PVP in space (which I liked the idea of enough to come back) when decay is re-instated.

This is true, one thing occurs to me though, why bother grinding a master pilot just to sit there going "wow look at my ship, no I wont pvp you cos it might cost me something"

Incentives required? Yep
Bragging required? Yep
Score and titles required? Yep and Yep and soon

Problem solved, having something you can't grind out and have to fight for will revitalise space in my opinion
