Thread: Bored while Surveying, asking advice...

I'm surveying right now, so figured I'd alt+tab out and ask for advice before I get too far into artisan. I recently came back to SWG (about 8 month absence for FFXi and WoW). I came back for the crafting, and the social aspect. I love to craft in this game. Running my own shop back when I played was so much fun. Shipwright is new to me, and I'm thinking I want to go SW and DE. I don't care all that much about getting rich, just being effective to myself and players. Is this right move? I've always wanted to do Druid Engineer, but I also want to make ships, it sounds fun. I know I should play for fun, but it won't be much fun if I get into the profession and notice I see no customers and don't sell anything. Will I run into this no-customer situation, or will I see enough customers to keep me busy crafting? Aside from those questions, what is the general population's opinion on SW (And DE if you are one)? Is it fun, effective, interesting, etc..? Any advice will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Druid Engineer? lol

Well, a SW/DE is a good combo for the fact that you can make all the ship stuff. Along with astro droids, flight computers, and program chips which are used by pilots.

But, SW does take a lot of resources and a lot of time crafting. Be in for a ride, it can be great and fun, or a big bother. Depends on how you like the trip. I wish you luck and greatness in your journy.

Surveying is probably the least fun activity in the game, except for sitting in your ship waiting for your droid programs to load. I do both on a regular basis.

If you do go MDE and MSW then also master artisan as a DE uses to many parts that can only be crafted by a MA.

A Druid Engineer would be interesting -- transmute metal to wood -- warp wood -- that would fubar some ships fast.

I tried to do SW/DE. Couldn't do it because SW takes too much time. I had all those points in DE just sitting there for nothing.

I love SW.. I dont make a great many sales but I make some. Problem is Ship gear decays even slower than ground gear, 10% off the top of each repair but 0 decay if you are master pilot and can take a trip into deepspace. So repeat custom tends to die off once a pilot reaches master and doesnt need anything new other than perhaps some gear RE'ing.

RE'ing gear is very rewarding when youve saved up the best of the best and make a neat piece to stick in your ship (or to sell).

Droid engineer, well med droids are worth zilch now, and again no repeat custom, droids last forever. Somthing needs to be done about this.

also DE is a really fiddly crafting proff with multiple levels of subomponents to combine. some find it rewarding, it was my first crafting proff and nearly put me off forever. I found BE much more rewarding, though I am now shipwright and like that better, space is by far my favourite bit of the game.
