I'm curious. I got the vet reward yacht (which is a NICE ship), but are there any others. Do, I have to go and master the pilot tree to get the YT1300? Or is there another one. Looking at the ships, it seems that, with the exception of the Yacht and YT1300, SoE completely forgot about the non-combatants this time. What about those of us who would rather just enjoy exploring space versus combat? Are there any other ships other than the Yacht that can be used for that?
Thanks

There are 2 other multi person ships, but they are also master ships for rebel and imperial pilot (because they can't fly the YT-1300).
JtL simply isn't for non-combat players ... there is nothing else to do in space than kill NPCs or other players. Only thing you can do is shuttle people from point A to point B (taking longer than shuttels) ... and RP on the ship.

First, this probably better fits in the Pilot forum..
But to answer your question.. You can explore space in any ship. Just be warned, space is a dangerous place. The yacht is invulnerable, but no other ships are.
When you say non-combatants, are you referring to people who have a preference of non combat professions, or people that do absolutely no combat at all? Anyone can be a pilot, after all. It takes no skill points, so even someone like me (Master tailor, dancer, and a decent amount of merchant is all I have) can progress as a pilot. If you don't want to do any combat at all, see above about exploration.
There's actually 4 ships like the YT-1300. The yacht, of course, is the first many will see. Neutral pilots can learn to fly the YT-1300. (Stock model, unfortunately. Nothing like the falcon.) Rebels can fly the Nova Courier. (Decent room inside, though not as nice as the yacht of course.) Imperials can fly the Decimator. (Lovely viewport in the lower deck... Though not as nice as the yacht of course.)

My characters are purely social/crafting. If you check my sig you'll see what I mean. I've been in this game for quite some time now, and I've tried ranged and melee combat as well as crafting, service, and social. And, I'm just not big into combat. It's fun ocasionally, but not as my main method of play. I prefer to use JtL as just another way to create player created content...unfortunately, it doesn't seem like they've given us that option (other than the yacht and the YT1300).

I believe its 75 and will take 1 lot of from your character.
1 multi-player ship = 1 lot
2 multi-player ships = 2 lots.
So if you have the Yacht and YT-1300 (decorated or not) you will lose 2 lots from your character.

Ok, great, thank you for the information.
It would make sense as that would put it on par with the small naboo house.

So the multi-passenger ships take up land lots? That means I need to rearrange my storehouses I guess.
I'm little disappointed at the lack on non-combat stuff to do in space; there's so much potential. However, I'm confident that with time SOE will add more JtL content that doesn't involve just blowing up ships. One thing I'd definitely like to see is asteroid harvesting and gas mining in space. Some kind of smuggling system for space would be nice as well, as would space stations we can board. Oh, and ultimately new planets that can only be reached by player ships (i.e. no intergalactic shuttle service). Hopefully this kind of stuff can be added in the future.

To be fair, space combat and ground combat are not the same. The characters I play most right now are master dancer/tailor and some merchant and master musician/entertainer and some CH and swordsman. (The CH is just to get animals on stage, and the swordsman is just to help level CH, but I'll need to drop it soon.) I'm not big on ground combat, but I went out and picked up a new joystick for space.
I'd like to see things like the ability to board someone elses ship. Say you request permission to dock, then the pilot can accept or refuse. If they accept, you could get onto their ship without them having to land. Right now if you want to have a party, anyone fashionably late doesn't get to go.

Exactly. It is basically a flying house. The other option was to limit it to one ship decorated at a time, which wasn't very popular.

In beta there were many posts asking for more multi passanger ships for various points in the trees.Lots of recomendations for lambda shuttles, scout ships, courier ships. i think that if they want JTL to be a combat game exclusivlythey should move the current master ship down some tiers, then add a new master ship that has 4 turrets or more hardpoints for weapons. Turrets could be placed around the ship like so one dorsal, one ventral, one port, and one starbord (i hope thats right), or do it like a WWII bomber one in front, one on dorsal, one ventral, and a tail gunner. these ships would require massive reacters and capasiters for the ammount of fire power they would carry. i would sign up for duty on one of these ships in a heartbeat.

Yeah, when friends who dont play SWG heard that JTL would include the ability for others to "crew" a ship, they were thinking of joining the game as my crew. Unfortunately, the gameplay is not quite what they were looking for.

Couple of points:
They ARE giving every veteran a free Sorosuub and anyone can pilot them. So the total non-combatant CAN use them. Without being a novice pilot, you can explore space in a free ship that is guaranteed to be able to stay out of combat.
Also, the early multi-player ships did not allow ent healing but this was changed to allow it (though to be honest, I never tested it after they announced that). But again, it shows they are listening and responding to reasonable input. Now is there a serious lack of content for non-combatants? Yup - but nothing says this can't be increased.
BTW - not so sure about lumping the Sorosuub and the YT-1000 together... especially since you need to be a Master Pilot to fly the YT-1000 (or the other two multi-player ships).
