Nothing like having a mark 5 shield gen that has 40k mass. Even if u use this in a multi ship that will take up 30% of the mass for the ship. Add the armor at 50k each and you are at 140k mass on a 150k mass ship. I got np with HIgh level parts being high mass but this is too high. There are several parts that you can not add a sub comonents to reduce mass on. I think that these parts (Capacitors,Droid Interface, Shields, Wepons, Missles and countermeasures) should have lower mass ratings then they have now. Doing this will make everything stronger across the boards and not effect the flight of the ship at all. There will be no balance issues because its to all the parts.

The problem that I saw durring beta is that these items had INSANE mass to them, they were not increasing the effectivness of the ojbect in the same lines.
An example is you have a cert 5 shield gen that has 4000 mass, and has 800+ shields, and a 4+ recharge.
You create a cert 7 shield gen that now has 12000 mass, but only 1100+ shields, and a 6+ recharge.
I would expect that if you are going to increase the mass by 3X that the effectivness of the component will also be increased 3X not .75X
The increases from tier 1 to tier 2 seemed ok, but from teir 3+ they suck,
Reactors are another great example, very little gain for an insane amount of mass/increase in mass.
Just my thoughts on the matter.

Its the law of diminishing returns. This will force people to carefully consider if they want to expand that extra mass for a slightly stronger punch. Its like the ground game. A weaponsmith charges 30K for a T21 rifle. That same rifle with a 30% damage slice will sell for 1 million. This is just taking the same cost vs benifit and making it actually effect your templete.
