Yes, It's true. I was an architect for almost a year. I watched as the people who had lot swaps and multiple boxes undercut prices on deeds to the point where deeds were (and still are) selling for 4 CPU or less on the resources. I'm seeing the same scenario happening in the shipwright profession. It takes millions in resources to get master shipwright, so why give the products away when you get there. After all, over 90% of all items a shipwright builds have to be hand-crafted.

I'm just posting this to try to appeal ALL shipwrights to keep from ruining this profession like architect. Architect is the only profession in the game with a return of only 3-5 CPU gross on the resource cost. I'm not saying to price gouge, but why not make a fair and reasonable profit and not sell out by getting into a price war.

Right now I'm selling my chassis for 10cpu, but resources cost me 5-7cpu so until people start dropping out because shipwright is too hard (and stableizes the resource market)you're going to have work on lower profits.

Our shipwright will prevail, but I started this thread for the people who haven't been in this game since beta. I'm seeing the people who are established on corbantis dropping prices to cut out the "little guy" and monopolize the business. It happens in most professions, but when you have a profession that uses mass amounts of resources, only the veterans can hold out for the duration.

Be patient, it will pay off in the end.

The primary difference between SW and Architect is decay.

Ships and components decay rather quickly for an active pilot - at least an active combat pilot.

Eventually, those who are selling to low will fall away and leave the profession, or adjust their prices to maintain profitability. Either way the law of attrition applies.

The really good news is that, unlike houses, because ships do decay and won't simply last forever, there will always be a steady stream (even if it's just a trickle at times) of customers.

This is what ensures that the SW economy will bounce back.

Now, if players had to replace entire houses every 3 - 6 months, even the Architect would bounce back, but the outcry would be tremendous.

In the end, it will iron itself out, we just have to be patient while waiting to reach that point.

Excellent post. You are getting 3-5cpu gross profit? I would push anyone here down a flight of stairs for a 3-5 cpu profit. On Corbantis the average total cost is 4cpu across the board. So basically a TIE Interceptor is 300K or less.

I've been buying resources for 3cpu and selling chassis for 4cpu and still have seemed to make O.K. credits since we are dealing with such large numbers.

At some point people are going to stop making as many chassis and focus on components which can go for much higher cpus.

Yes, yes, I know that I should harvest my own stuff and I do to some extent but SW takes up so many resources that I still end up buying most of them.

I wish we could all agree on some sort of standards. Such as bulk resources cost 3 to 4 cpu and our products cost 5 to 7 cpu based on quality...
