Well i am Alliance Ace Pilot AND Master shipwright(i know i need a life and all that thanks for caring). And i find my role as a shipwright getting more and more interesting. Since i have figured out (as a pilot) how to use the different droid programms properly i have also found so much more sense in my shipwright skill.
For example reactors... i am crafting low mass reactors now for my A-Wing for example that die after a while because of my massive reactor overloading, but thats not an issue because with reactor overload 4 and a 9k energy and 800mass reactor i can without ANY trouble generate enough energy to equal a 16k energy reactor. I will just waste a couple of more reactors that way, but whatever that is not a problem for me, because mark1 reactors are easy to make and cost not much resources. I can now outfit my A-Wing with a speed optimized experimental blaster that has about 33k mass without sacrificing shield or armor values just because i am able to craft low mass stuff (droid interface with 300 mass anyone?).
I see my role as a shipwright very positive in the future, because i know i will always be needed to supply special customized parts. Be it a low drain weapon or a low mass ractor or even low mass armor or a special shield.
The programms that allow you to use the extreme gear in your ship with some other components overloaded (engine for example or reactor or capacitator) also destroy those parts fast and if you have a real special looted part you do not want to waste it with those programs... you would take a crafted piece and overload it, thus gaining more speed or energy generation or whatever then ANY looted part with better stats could.

I was waiting for someone like you. You have a unique insight that I'll never have (Im not all that into flying). I did the same thing with my def stacked conbat toon and my WS alt. I just hunted loot all day because I knew what I needed and where to get it. If you market yourself properly, you have the potential to be the (or one of the) UBER custom SWs on your server. You'll know JUST how to tailor a ship. I'd market to the PvP crowd. They always want the BEST of the BEST and have very high opinions of themselves. Theor reputation is everything to them. Those 2 things add up to lots O' cash for you. GL!!

Are you saying here that a Rebel using a astromech with droid programsto reinforce and adjust his shields is wearing away the hit points of his shield generator faster by doing this?

Ohhhhh, I was wondering how well that would work. Just waiting for abuddy of mine to get the programs and me to get the awing. SO you like the way it works out?

No... not this programm, but when i use reactor overload or engine overload it does wear dont those parts.
