I took a break from the game at the time JtL came out, back around December. Having recently gotten back into SWG, I have some questions about how to outfit my ship. I'm not a "biggest and the best" kind of player, though I do like my gear to be high end. Can anyone help me with a few questions regarding ship components?
Droid Interface
-- I've read that speed is the big factor here, but at what end of the scale? Is higher speed better, or lower speed? My current DI is a loot job with around 34 speed.
Engines
-- I'm a Freelance pilot with an Ixyen class ship. It's not as agile as my old Dunelizard, but still manageable. My pitch/yaw stats are mid-60s, which I hear is good, but my overall speed seems low (can't remember offhand what it is). Are faster engines typically less agile?
Droid Commands
-- I'm totally lost here. I don't even know what to say LOL.
Ships
-- I like my Ixyen. It looks cool, and I don't want to give it up. But is this the best PvE ship available to me? I see a lot of hooplah about the Krayt ship, though it seems a bit big for my flying style. I admit the lure of the YT1300 is pretty big, but it's probably hard to fly too.

"Can anyone help me with a few questions regarding ship components?"
Yes.
"Droid Interface

The lower the number, the faster the speed.
38.5 command speed will take forever.
9.2 speed will be quick.
But in the old days these numbers were backwards on Droid Interfaces(High levels had high numbers, and therefore were very slow), and that's since been fixed; though there are still a whole lot of low level DI's with low speed numbers(low number=high rate), so that's sure to cause more confusion if you're not confused enough already.

They're not dependant on each other. Generally a shipwright cannot craft an engine with decent YPR numbers in ANY case, so they just go for speed. Your best bet there is loot and reward engines that you get reverse engineered(don't miss thelevel 6 and level 8reward engines when you receive them, or you'll be kicking yourself). There's a guide to reverse engineering on this forum if you need an explanation.

Each pilot profession(Rebel, Freelance, Imperial) gets a set of commands they can program. The only restriction on their use is how much space they take up in an Astromech Droid/Flight Computer(and you have to be certified to use the level of data storage that the Droid/FC uses, level 1-6).
Some, like overloads{Weapon Overload(WO), for example} will raise the effect(damage, in the WO case) while dealing a portion of damage to the component you're overloading. Others have other effects, probably details in an FAQ link on this forum somewhere.
If there's a program you want to use but isn't available to you(like a Weapon Overload, as that's an Imperial Program), you can get another pilot that is of the right pilot profession to burn a program on an unprogrammed chip, and you can put that chip in your computer/droid to use the program.

The best thing to do would be for YOU to try each ship out on your own and see what fits your flight style and gun and mass preferences best.

Excellent answers there Sar-larid .

Many pilots have spoken on this.
