Whoops, didn't mean to send that empty thread

Anyways, I've been MSW for some time now, but I never -really- set up shop--I've just been completing custom orders that I recieve just from having the title on display (go figure). Anyways, respecced to merchant, long story short, and set up shop outside of bestine (Bria). I've ultimately decided to sell components (Mark III, and IV--Mark V's on custom, because most people want RE'd stuff at that level anyway), and ordnance. I don't have a factory, so I bust out the ammunition and components by hand, and sell them in two categories: low mass and high quality (component-wise). Now, I've just been selling at 6 cpu, for I figured that to be at an average pricing for resources.... But what is the REAL pricing fofr these products? I don't need some super-elaberate forumlae, just an average...

Oh, and by the way, I stop bothering to make chassis after I saw the intelligence level drop on some of the newer 'wrights and their idea's on how much resources should go for when combined into a large object. :-/

This topic has been debated time and time over and over again. You have to charge what you think your stuff is worth. And if people think it's worth what you're charging, they'llbuy it. There is no clear cut cpu number you should use. Go to a bazaar terminal and browse through the components for sale. Look at their quality. Look at their prices. Look at your quality and try to price comparitively. If you're paying 8 cpu for resources then you can't charge 10, unless you are the charity type person then hey more power to you. Then you try prices and see how they sell. If your vendors get slammed and your stock runs out in a day then maybe you charged too low. If you're not selling anything then try lowering them a bit.

Bottom line is that there is no correct answer. The number of units you sell and the amount of time you sell them will be the determinant. Keep records on your prices and units sold at given prices. Let supply and demand find your equilibrium for you. Simple as that. Don't be a follower. Be a leader.

For comparison, here on Farstar, several SWs price at 30cpu for components (they obviously don't like to make chassis with the same resources). And I do buy from them at that price. Simply because they make the best components that can be had on the server. That's 225k for a mk5 engine for example...

So basically, you gotta know what else is out there and how it will compare to your stuff. Also, if you tend to buy resources, make sure you don't sell them under price.
