Thread: Grind SW?
see those stickys at the top of the forum? see the one at the very top titled "SHIPWRIGHT GUIDES AND REFERENCE MATERIAL(Includes FAQ, Guides, ROTW info and more)"? that's got a lot of good info the many people have put a lot of effort into. it's sticky so that new shipwrights can find it easy without having to make posts asking for help.

The *most effective* way is to do your research and find out what sells. Then mine your own resources and make those items. I started this game about 5 weeks ago without a penny to my name. I didn't have to sell my BARC or cheat & buy credits off the net. I just inched my way up to personal harvesters. I gradually transitioned to mediums. And when I could find cheap resources (1cpu), I'd buy them up. Currently I'm a 3-4-4-4 SW and have about 1.5mil in the bank.
If you want to rush it, you're just going to end up in the hole and dumping massive numbers of items on the market for a loss. In which case I'd have to recommend that you do everyone a favor and just buy your items from another SW even if it seems a bit expensive. Once you get into the trade you begin to see why the costs vary so much on the market (grind crap = cheap, high quality items = high but fair price).
I don't know. I'm kind of in the school of thought that you need a serious financial investment to get started at MSW in the first place. The initial investment regarding resources was very steep. I mean, unless you want to mine your own stuff and do the best you can with that. If your popping 5-10 cpu for good quality stuff, with all the resource types that we need, that adds up very quickly. I mean, going bare minimum I'd say you'll need 1-2 million units of resource IN THE VERY LEAST. I mean you can buy 200k of steel at a time but you're going to have to hit the vendors after 2 weeks or less.
I say this to anyone looking to start a SW business. Be a pilot first. Learn to fly... and fly well. Learn about how the different types of ships work (light fighters, heavy fighters, bombers, pob's). When that's done you'll have a serious bankroll. Then buy a very small amount of good resources until you find the right formulas for what you want to be making, then take that bankroll and dump it for the resources you are going to go with. Do yourself a favor and go in with 20-30 mil. You'll thank me for it.
