Look I understand the argument that JTL and Jedi should be seperate, however, until this prof does not draw from the pool of 250 skill points it should be treated like all other professions. I personally am not grinding FS with my SW character, I created him to be a pilot and shipwright, that is it, so for me this is personally meaningless. It still does not make sense, though, that we cannot trade in xp. The fact of the matter is, this is a crafting profession and almost identical to all other crafting professions and should be treated as such.

shipwrights should definately be able to trade in their xp. Even if the ratio is 100:1 we deserve something.

Shipwright isn't an isolated entity from the ground game. We harvest, craft, experiment, and sell like any other crafting profession does. Why we get the shaft is beyond me. Since there are no Shipwright skill tapes, force skills are the only thing we can hope for to improve upon our craft- yet we are unfairly excluded from that. I would very much like to start working on my FS skills and unlock my Jedi, but I am at a standstill until SW's get FS conversion like everybody else. I refuse to surrender SW to take another FS grindable profession in it's place, only to have to grind SW again when I am done.

Im all for this, provided it is not used as an excuse to allow jedi skills to creep into the space game.

I for one love being a good pilot, it takes real skill to do this and win. The last thing I want is someone whos crap with the stick kicking my *** just because he has some "skills" that are not available to me. I have no intention of getting on the grind to Jedi to compete with this, and neither should anyone else.

Skilled Jedi own the ground game, I say let them keep that, I do my talking in space.

One thing that not sure of is that if the FS crafting bonus applie to SW or not if it dies then do not see why should not be able to convert. tha JTL seperate form the griund game argument needs to be sort of an all or nothing thing thoight the FS skill for pilot which take no ground game Skill points should stand. If I cant get FS point or bonus for SW then I would like for SW to be like pilot and no Skill points if that was the case would not coplain about factories, FS conversion or whatnot.

As long as this profession is using part of my 250 skill points, then I should be able to convert shipwright xp to FS crafting xp...just like every other crafting profession.

Edit: And from what I can tell, FS experimentation does seem to help with shipwright, though not by a huge factor.

I disagree....shipwright is the only profession in which ultra wealthy people can merely buy xp. With several ship chasis using 150k units of resources, the xp comes in fast and furious. If a player had enough moneyfrom the old solo-group meathod or some sort of unidentified credit dupe (or a future one) a playercan (in theory) buy millions of units of resources andin short time convert them to enough FS XPto grind the whole FS tree. This, I think, is the reason that the SW xp does not convert to FS.

However if the ratio was made very very high, 100, or even 1000to 1, for example, it would go at the pace of every other crafting FS grind.

Actually, there are no skill mods whatsoever, whether FS or normal, that make you a better pilot. It is completely dependent on your ship, your components, but 90% player skill.

Anyone trying to be a Jedi would be an idiot to get there through Shipwright. They'd be better off spending their theoretical millions of credits to by grenades and grinding combat xp...combat xp has a better conversion rate, and you use it to get FS combat skills (which is vital considering Jedi is designed to be a PvP combat profession). And going the 'nade route would ultimately be cheaper in the long run too.

Consider that shipwright xp converts at 0.25 per resource point (that's 39,375 xp for a master level ship in practice mode). Let's assume that shipwright had the same xp conversion rate as Architect (35 to 1). That master level ship then yields only 1,125 FS crafting xp. To complete all four crafting branches, you'd need 4,950,000 FS crafting xp. That's 4,400 master level ships to grind out in practice mode. 4,400 ships x 150,000 resources each = 660,000,000 resources (in practice mode). Multiply that by an average of 2 cpu for grind level resources and you're looking about 1.32 billion credits. And that's just for the four crafting branches...still not enough to unlock Jedi.

I don't think we have to worry about Jedi wanna-be's using Shipwright as the fast road to Jedi.

Keep Jedi, and everything to do with Jedi out of space.

No FS conversion for Pilot Exp, No FS conversion for SW.
