This might have been requested before, but i would like to see DPS on space weapons. It's not that important, but it would be good to see without having to pop out the calculator. Maybe this can be a petition if we sign it or keep bumping it.

Problem with them adding that is there would actually be 3 different DPS's. You'd have your DPS vs Shields, DPS vs Armor, and DPS vs Ship. And, for most pilots, all 3 of these would be very important. Sure, that one gun might have a really good vsArmor, but it's vsShield might make it a piece of junk.

I'd really prefer them to not add it in, since that's one of my biggest issues with the ground CU. DPS numbers aren't all that important once you get to learn how to read the rest of the stats.

What is "DPS vs. Ship"?

I calculate DPS and add it to the item name. Since I never tweak efficiency on my blaster cannons, it is one number. However, I add both numbers (seperated with a slash) for weapons that have different efficiency against shields and armor. My customers love this because it saves them time and guesswork.

DPS vs. Armor = (Max + Min)/2 * vs.Armor * 1/Refire
DPS vs. Shield = (Max + Min)/2 * vs.Shield * 1/Refire
DPS vs. Ship = (DPS vs. Armor + DPS vs. Shield)/2

Essentially, DPS vs Ship is the average of the 2. I typically craft Ions, so there's a big difference in the numbers and DPS vs. Ship isn't quite as easy to figure out. With blasters, it will be the same as either of the 2, since both of the vs. are the same.

Main reason I say it would need both, especially on looted where you get varying stats, is, imo, most people are willing to sacrifice armor in PvP to make room. Thus, having a much higher DPS vs. Shield is extremely desirable. Actually, even against the people with armor, higher vs. Shield is warranted, mainly because shields are typically higher then armor and CTSS.

Nearo,

In your calculations I don't see how they line up. You say 'DPS vs. Armor = (Max + Min)/2 * vs.Armor * 1/Refire'. I am fairly new so please correct me where I make mistakes here. Lets use your calulations on a hypothetical weapon. Lets say I have a weapon that is 1500 min damage, 2500 max damge, .600 Vs Armor and Shield, and .250 refire. Ok so your caluculation woud make these numbers.

Max + Min = 4000

4000 / 2 = 2000

2000 * .600 = 1200

1200 * 1 / .250 = 4800 DPS

I'm not sure this makes sense to me. The part that has me confused is the Vs Sh/Ar number. If the Vs is .600 shouldn't the Damage per shot be 60% between the Min and Max damage numbers? In other words wouldn't it look more like this?

Max - Min = 1000

1000 * .600 = 600

600 + 1500 (min) = 2100

2100 * 1/.250 = 8400 DPS

My logic is the minimum amout of damage your weapon will do is 1500 (in the hypothetical weapon stats I used) and the max is 2500, therefore the Vs number is the percentage between these two numbers. In your calculations you it turns out the weapon will only do 1200 damage per shot even though it's minimum amount of damage is 1500 and the Vs number is .600. Does this make sense or am I just totally confused....

thanks....

It took me a bit of the same kind of confusion before it clicked.

Here's the thing. Your minimum damage is 1500, so yes, that's the minimum the gun will do. But, if it's hitting a shield, it's only doing 60% of that minimum damage, or 900 damage to the shield. The minimum DPS of a weapon like that would then be 900 * 1/0.25, or 3600 damage per second. The average DPS is then the average of the min and max, or 4800.

The Damage vs isn't a modifier between the two, but a final calculation applied when it actually hits a shield or armor. If I remember right, subcomponents take full damage though, so that applies a little differently.

That still doesn't sound right. Your saying that even if I had a 1.00 Vs Shield my 1500min/2500max damage weapone would still only do 1500 damage to the shield. That doesn't sound correct.

If you had 1.00 vsShield with a 1500-2500 gun, you'd do an average of 2000 damage to the shield per shot, 1500 min, 2500 max. Your DPS vs Shield would then jump up to 8000. You nailed it on the head that the vs stat as a percentage. 1.00 being 100% of the damage and scaling down from there.
