Thread: Pre-*nerf* Firesprays??

Well i was one of those who raced ahead as soon as i was able to be among the first on my server to create the firespray schematic. I did it so that i along with my friends would have them when we reached master. Well, now SOE has raised the Mass on them to something like 210 where it was 180.
My concern is that.. my firespray is mass 180k now, which seems extremely low next to the new post patch firesprays. Is there any way to change the pre-patch firesprays to have post-patch mass value?
Or is SOE trying to make the old ones worthless next to the newly crafted ones?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

There is no way to "upgrade" the mass of pre-patch ships. SOE does not care about you. They randomly screw players like this all the time. I have about 10 high-cost ships on my vendor that are now unsellable. So I feel your pain.

They have talked about this extensivly in several other threads.

There is no way for this to be a retroactive change because they do not store data about what % you experimented on mass or the resources used or anything.

It is not unsellable. So its not worth 16mill any more, sell it for 8 mill. People will suck thise up because not every one has all the money, but they want the chassis.

The majority rules, a majority of shipwrights did not race thru SW and race to get a firespray. So its not worth doing 40 hours of coding to figure out a way to make the chassis mass change retroactive for a minority of people what will not be completlee devicated by this change.

When they changed the pets thing around they had to do something to make it retroactive because over 50% of the people had pets. Then they figured out a complicated turn in system.

Same thing with the mass change on Spacebomb II launchers. I dont see many people shouting how there spacebomb II launchers are lower mass then the new ones. People only complain about non retroactive changes when they dont have the up side of it. So stop being greedy and take the change and sell them for 50% less.

I see. Well thanks for answering my question then.

but.. don't call me greedy...
I think you missed my point Rags, i am not crafting these to sell them. I spent a lot of time and energy making these for personal use. Greedy? C'mon i'm giving these away to my friends. You see, it just pisses me off that SOE doesn't care about the minority of players, in any circumstance. Sure, as you say, most of the shipwrights have not crafted these yet. So what? They are now rewarded for their laziness? Makes sense to me...
I'm glad they made this change, not that i think it needed changing in the first place. All i was asking is if there was any way to make the firesprays that my friends and i are using as good as the firesprays everyone else will be getting. For PvP now theirs will be better than ours, so if we want to keep up we will have to buy new ones. I feel like all thos hours spent making them in the first place were well spent.. yeah right.. oh well this is the game i play. What else should i expect. At least the players could be supportive. Thanks rags.

I think the mass on spacebomb II launchers was increased around 10k too.

I was with you right up until you called me lazy, then I was glad you were screwed over. Have fun getting a new set of fragments.

40hrs of coding? ROFL!

SOE is a database driven MMORPG. To convert the old chassis to the new limits would only require writing a tiny scrip that simply went through the database on the day of the change or even now (if they keep a date created field on objects). The script would look for every FireSpray created before {patch} date and then apply this formula to the value to create the new mass.

newmass = currentmass*(newmassmax/oldmassmax)

If the oldmass maximum was 181K and the new maximum mass is actually 210K then given an old 180K mass, the formula would give a new mass of:

newmass = 180K(210K/181K) = 208K

There is no reason to care what experimentation was spent on the object. The only result that matters is the final result as a percent of the total possible at the time converted to the new max. Not retroactively applying changes is a weak argument when it is simple ratios.

40hrs? Right....

Not that I have a stake in the currentFireSpray issue, but as an old DE I understand the "small guy doesn't count" nonsense. If it was big enough to make a change, then it is big enough to make that change retroactive.

Thats why I quit after this patch. Not because I would not be able recover from that, but because they just don't care and will do this things in future again and again.

I'm only upset about this change because of the sheer waste of time and effort. Not in crafting the chassis, thats easy. I'm torked because it took me an incredibly long time to acquire the resources to make those chassis.

On my own, I can harvest around 500k resources a week, give or take.

My sales allow me to purchase another 200k to 400kof resources each week, depending on quality of resource.

10 Tier 4 ship chassis represent a full week of resource acquisition. Those done before the Mass change will never sell for what they cost me in time and credits to make. I will destroy them before I sell them for less, since ships don't decay and I'll never sell more than a double handful of ship chassis to any one individual.

Combine all of this with the Solo group/ Mission payout nerf and you get people who will not be willing to pay what it cost to make the chassis. Why not sell a cheap chassis for less? Because I don't want to set the precedent for low cost chassis. Then the "public" will expect those low prices.

Same with me, I bought the ressources for that chassis. SWG is a nice game, but unfortunatley itis a big time waste. Not only that I lost a lot due to the chassi change,also the group nerf makes it harder to get money. So just because soe decided, nowI don't need 4h to make a million (with missons)Iwillneed 10-15 hours to get this money. AndI never did the missionsbecause they are so fun,they are boring I just did it for the goal (to get money). This is not fun to me anymore and is just wasting my time.
