Sorry Shipwrites I'm not a crater but I'd like to discuss something about engines with you. See here is what I've noticed so far on (Ahazi server)crated engines, and I'd like your input.
I prefrence this with I know they droped the Pitch, Roll and Yaw numbers. These are not the numbers I'll be discussing.
Ok so here we go, pretty much every crafted engine I have seen has had better Max Speed, don't get me wrong but this is great, HOWEVER I have noticed the sub numbers for Pitch, Yaw, and Roll make a huge diffrence for pilots. Is it too hard to experment with these numbers? have the resources been low that determine better numbers? This is not a complaint I'm just trying to understand, all the speed in the world won't help if the Max rates for control suck. I've noticed anything under mid 50's for max rates gives about a .8 or less on Max Pitch, Max Yaw, and Max Roll. Do Shipwrites need another adjustment to make better engines? Right now I continue to use looted or RE'd engines only because as I stated, the crated ones have the speed, but when you view the contorl numbers on the ship status screen all max rates are below 1.0 causing most ships to handle like a brick.
What I'd really love to see is a mid range to be honest, or SW to have another tweak so that they can craft engines on par with looted or reward ones.

Join the crowd we all would like for us Shipwrights to be able to craft better stuff. However we have been told that the pitch, yaw, and roll were SUPPOSE to be removed from the engine status since this was determined by the chassis itself , yet its not shown on the chassis. Howevere with the last update they did give us they allowed us better speed and left the pitch, yaw, and roll stats on there. With only so many experimentation points to play with we have to sacrifice speed for these things or vice versa. I totally agree with you even though I am not in space hardly ever I see your concerns as a pilot.
I do hope they get us better craft abilities b/c the way we are at the moment we are 90% useless really. We are mainly needed for missiles, launchers and chasssis, EVERYTHING else can be lloted better off than we make!

Yeah, that's a problem. I can make an Mk IV engine with a speed of 90+ and RPY of around 52. If I put all my experimentation into RPY (each is seperate) I might get them up in the 60s but my speed is only going to be around 77. [shrug] I'd love to be able to put 1 point to a "handling" stat that would effect all 3 seperately but that's not the way it is atm.

We can experiment on the pitch, roll, and yaw... but it really doesn't do any good. Pitch, roll, and yaw are each different stats to be experimented, and each experimentation point used does almost nothing. With 15pts at master, if evenly placed 5 points into each, the results would be pathetic - you would have a completely subpar engine - poor speed, poor manuverability. SW who do craft engines put almost everything (if not everything) into speed, because it is the only advantage we have.

You ask about 4 experimentation areas speed , pitch, yaw and roll
engines can be exeprimentated in these areas;
Mass
Armor
Hit Points
Energy Maintance
Speed
Pitch
Roll
Yaw
Where would you experimemt?
Because of the patch the changed how the AI attacks and the nerf to the 92 speed reward engine most people want speed and to get a level 7 engine to 89.0 takes over half your experimentation points.
Now where do you use the rest?
Reduce the amount of energy used so you do not have to overload reactor?
Reduce mass so you can fit more in lower mass ships?
etc, etc, etc
Most people who ask me for an engine want speed and care less about the other stat's the few that ask what other areas can be experimented on want reduced energy for the rest of the experimented points.
Most pilots do not have a clue and just want speed but I do use rest in p,r,y when it's left up to me.
