Thread: has your opinion changed about factory support with the news of galaxy vendor search?

i have always been in favor of factory support for SW, but i know alot of you have not. Now that the news is out about people being able to shop on your vendor from any vendor, have you changed your mind about factory support? the vendor searches IMO will increase sales and could clean out vendors to the point of keeping them stockedmade animposibility. one answer for this could be to slightly increase your prices (at the risk of loosing all sales)to keep items on your vendor a little longer. for me i dont like the idea, i make a profit selling at the prices i sell at now, and raising the prices would be gouging, or at least thats how i see it. as it is now i have to do about a 50% restock a week, since we are forced to hand craft our items this is very time consuming. dont getme wrong i enjoy making parts, but i dont consider my self a true crafter, i like to play all parts of the game. hunt, fly, fight, build...well rounded charecter, but if i dont have factory support i am affraid that i will have to spend most of my game time crafting, i think that factory support could really help out with this.

You are aware that the "news" you refer to was simply a proposal, which was withdrawn by the devs for further working due to the fact that a good number of people were against certain aspects of it, right?
In other words, it is not going to happen, and that worrying about it is useless until the revamped proposal is posted.

The lack of factory support is the biggest reason why I believe this change would hurt shipwrights much less than the other crafting professions. If anything, it only strengthens my opinion that sticking with our current system is the way to go.

Actually yes it has.
I run a nice DE and SW business with Merchant skills backing me up nicely. I am in favour of the proposed Vendor change, for a number of reasons which you can find on most posts about it. The only thing I wasn't in favour of, was the instant delivery.
However, the main reason I was in favour, was the chance to open up the market to a wider audience, and sell to more players.
I know I am competitive already, and I have a very nice low volume business. If the increase in business is as anticipated my SW business would sel otu very quickly. I stock top quality components at a reasonable price (lower than a lot, but not the lowest).
I was never in favour of factory support for SW, as I thought this took away from the playing of SW, and made it more into a mass production profession, which I didn't like. However, with the propsed vendor changes, I think it would be essential to have factory support now for the components I make.
So yes, it has changed my mind. But only if the vendor changes went in.
