You're selling a 28.1 recharge capacitor that weighs almost 38kfor 80k?

Yes, that's the problem with these things. In this case I put almost all the exp points into capacitor energy.
I get the price from
2500units of resource to make the battery
5000units to make the cap
that's 7500units x 10.7 and I get right about 80k
do you think it would be better to have lower energy and higher recharge then?

"do you think it would be better to have lower energy and higher recharge then?"
I think if you make a capacitor, booster, or engine, you're throwing resources out the window.
Odd levels of those components(the only versions of them shipwrights can make) are not worth a first glance. You can loot level TWO capacitors that outdo any level 9 capacitor you could craft or loot(and a WHOLE lot lighter using a LOT less power). You need an Even Level Engine to get YPR numbers anywhere near decent compared to the engine speed.
Better to make shields, armor, weapons, reactors, and missiles as a shipwright.

I agree with you to be sure. I do like to keep some instock just in case. I've actually sold several of these. Sometimes a pilot just seems to want the whole package to get started.

Well if they just want them for the level, that's fine, what they don't know won't hurt them; but would a master want to use a level 9 capacitor?

"would a master want to use a level 9 capacitor?"
I doubt it.
I feel bad about not being able to recommend the best capacitor I can make. It is like there is some phantom shipwright world that can make things better than we can dream of. None of us can work there. We can only steal their intellectual property and resale it.
I wish I knew where they get their parts =/

You know, it might be an interesting idea to have a system where players can buy a license to work for a Ship Component company(Incom, Sienar, Cygnus, Sorosubb, etc.) to craft even level components.

Crafted boosters are perfectly good. They'll have slightly worse burn and recharge rates, but they make up for it with superior accel/top speed. I sell plenty of these and think they're some of the best deals a pilot can get.
Crafted engines.. well, I wouldn't recommend them for any serious pilot, but I sell a lot of them, so I keep them in stock. I guess people use them before they get a reward engine or a good RE'd set, and I guess a lot of people use the level 9s just because they're the fastest thing around these days.
Capacitors are so atrocious I don't bother with them. I mean, if pilots want to buy them, it's their money, but putting good resources into such abominable product would be a senseless waste. Besides, even as a smuggler I'd feel bad selling something that poor.
When it comes down to it, though, it IS a free market. Nobody's forcing anyone to buy anything, and if they are buying engines or boosters or even capacitors that you feel are inferior, the customer must think otherwise.

I have to agree on the cap, not worth crafting those. Better get out loot for a wile and keep all those caps and re them, so you have some good in stock. Also the lvl9 armor has good protection, but it weights just to much for anything else than a multiperson ship. I mostly sell Mark 3 armor with about 1000-1200 armor for about 6k mass.
