I mastered shipwright several days ago and after concentrating on RE I want to start selling crafted components and chassis now, too, but the sheer amount of different ressources needed confuses me a little. I got about 20 lots to harvest and would like to get some tips on what I should harvest in what quantitites, how i should spread my harvesters over the different ressources and what kind of components chassis should be in a well stocked vendors.

thanks in advance

Steel, steel, more steel

Ore (siliclastic and that other type.. keep fogetting name )

Iron

Aluminum

Fiberplast

Inert Petrochem

Copper

Missles:

High Grade Polymetric Radioactive

Steel again

Components I dont craft so much so I dont really know sry.

The other type is Carbonate Ore.Yes, you do need alot of different resources. The "optional" subcomponents for all components require named resources. Look through the FAQ there is a guide somewhere that shows what resources are needed for what components. I would mine mostly steel and ore because you need a ton of steel with ore next if you make chassis. Components require high quality resources but chassis do not because there is not much difference in the results. What I did, initiallly, was go after the current named resources for a day or two. After that I go after the highest quality resource that is available. If it is high quality steel or a named resource, I pretty much throw all my harvesters at it until it is gone. If there is no high quality around, I either wait or go after the best steel available unless I am low on something else like aluminum or ore.

What MrHawat said.

Intially right after I got Master Shipwright I dropped enough harvy's so I could get a little of each of the special resources required for the special optional 'enhanced' components.

Then I went after Steel. Steel is your nemisis. You use steel is just about everything (22 different SW items) and if you can find a spawn of steel that has a high OQ and CD then throw everything at it until you need a factory just to hold all the extra resources (I use four factories to hold all my resources).
One of the times you won't need a high CD on steel is when making armor.

You will also need Steel with a high OQ (with the other stats not being minded as much).

Aluminum (used in 7 items) with also a high OQ and CD is excellent too (except when making Armor, then a high OQ, UT and HR).

For Copper (4 items) a high OQ and CD with UT being fairly important.

Low-Grade Ores (5 items need 'generic' low-grade ore) are fairly important so don't neglict them, amoung them Carbonite Ores (weapons) (high OQ and UT), Siliclastic Ore (engines) (OQ, SR, UT) being needed.

Radioactive (4 items) you'll want in two types; the first being just high OQ, the second being high OQ and PE. If you are going to be making missiles (a top money-maker if you can convience people that they want the 'Boom') then jump on any good spawns of High Grade Polymetric with high OQ and PE.

You'll also need Fiberplast (mainly for high-end chassis and Droid Interfaces) and having a high OQ, SR and UT is good).

Inert Gas (Capacitor, Reactor and Weapons) with a high OQ is also good.

Reactive Gas with a high OQ (for shields).

Inert Petro you'll use for both Armor and and Chassis (you'll want high OQ and UT for armor).

Liquid Petro for Boosters (high OQ and PE)

and finally Iron (for Chassis and Engines) which for Engines you'll want OQ, CD and UT.

The two spawns of resources I went crazy on and went out of my way to buy was a Radioactive (average OQ and PE of 880) and Steel (OQ 971, CD 800 something)... I then sent gmail and waypoints to everyone I knew who had harvy's and wanted some extra cash. I got lucky with the Steel as I got most of it for 2 cpu.

Each optional 'enhanced' component requires Steel and a 'special' resource.
Each normal component requires Steel and three other resources (as well as the above mentioned optional 'enhancement').

So yes... Resources can be overwhelming.
