hey fellas.
i setup my y8 with the (y8 only) lasers and shooting an asteroid produces nothing. no chunks or anything.
i tried useing diffrent mining lasers as well still nothing.
my other ships are setup to mine and they seem to function fine. i can mine all day in my oppressor just fine.
anyone else have this problem?

No my Y-8 works with the Elite Mining laser. My problem is its Cr*p.
I took a freind out mining last night and 1) het got space (sea) sick. 2) its takes forevery to get any real stock.
I harvest roid faster with my krayt with 2 mining lasers and a tractor beam. Its just the runs back to the stations to offload the cargo hold.
I would have thought that at least with the Y-8 we can tractor beam in the 1st roid chuck and not break it down.

Thats about the only true complaint about the Y-8 is even though it takes longer itself to harvest items it at least reduces the trip back to the start port. I been needing to go up and harvest alot of astroids but I am just sick of mineing itself. Its not really fun and gets dull after the first 20 mins or so.

I thought i read that you have to have the mining laser in the last gun position (number 2) otherwise it doesn't actually act as a mining laser..
The Y8 needs to have its own special tractor beam slots that auto pull from an area/arc in front of the ship.. i don't undertand how its even possible to use the y8 in its current configuration with just the 2 turrets and the forward facing main gun. Any one hae some tips of how they made it actually useful? Granted.. i did craft a 35k unit storage hold for it.. but it would take me 3 years to fill it with how slow i can mine wiht the thing.
