What is the damage you guys are getting for Mark III mining lasers?

I made a couple just rushed with a crappy lvl 3 max damage enhancement and had overall damage of 1700. Just wondering what damage is attainable with the use of good resources.

I recently made a Class III Mining laser oriented around refire/energy per shot and the stats were aprox as follows:

Level 7 Mining Laser

DMG: 1150-1650

Shields/Armor: .5

Energy per shot: 25-28 (I forget exactly)

Refire: ~.29

The mass wasn't highenough to balk at, but not small enough to oogle over. The funny thing is that about 10 minutes after putting it on my vendor it sold. A bit later I sent an email to him to see how it was working. He said that he keeps it on his ship because it's moderately better than his normal blaster The only resource I used under 80% was the Ferm Sil ore for the modification.

tractor beam extracts more than a mark III. about an extraction of 20.

I am just about to the point at which I am going to buy a Mark III mining lazer. Can anyone tell me what stats I need to look for? What is good and what is acceptable, etc.

Just could not find it in the stickies.

Thank you in advance.

You're looking for a high extraction rate, which means more resouces per chunk, which = less time mining.

Extraction rate is calculated by dividing the damage by 100. So a 1000-1500 damage mining laser has an extraction rate of 10.0-15.0

Other than that, probably mass and energy drain would be good to look for. Maybe refire. Whatever fits in your ship, really.

A tractor beam does??? The reward one or a crafted one and what technique do you use to mine with it?

Not sure if there is a great difference in the crafted compared to the reward. I belive the crafted has better over all stats, but i will have to look when i am loaded in.

All you need to do is set up a key to be your /toggletractorbeamon, and a key for /toggletractorbeamoff and your set. the toggles can be found in the keymap in the options screen. the off toggle is to turn the stinkin' noise off, it gets a bit annoying after a while.

They have a 1000m range and you just have to aim right on the small chunk and it will get dragged in. the best way to do that is just tell your ship to follow the chunk and it will do the work for ya.
