Alright, Perhaps I missed something, but I can't seem to figure out what ship customization does. I see the kits, I buy the kits, I apply the kits, but I can't see the gosh darned pattern to what does what.

here is an example, I know kit 1 changes the x-wing, but I only figured that out by buying a crate of it and trying it on all my ships.

anyone have a cheaper way of figuring out the kits?

Check out the Pilot FAQ v3.0 sticked in the Pilot Forum. They have screens of nearly all the ships with their different textures.

Pardon my low skills of observation, but I can't seem to find it in the FAQ v3.0 for pilots. I tried that before comming here. I also tried a forum search, but that seems to be permamently down.

So, The question (at least for me) still remains: "Whats up with the ship texture kits?"

awesome find Aerous, but the question remains: Which kit corosponds to which style?

again, if I am missing something, I apologise.

It might help to use a paint kit first and set both the colours to something distinctive. I think one of them defaults to white, which can make the changes in pattern less than obvious sometimes.

The texture kits 1-6 should work on all ships except Imperial ships.
with RotW some new kits were introduced, which will only work on a specific ship.
they should be kit 7 or 8 and include a specific ship type in the name.

Also with RotW a bug appeared, where only ships in Slot 1-3 seem to accept the texture kits, meaning you should visit your local starport and look what order your ships are listed, the top 3 should work just fine, where the last 3 probably will not accpet the Kits... (im not entirely sure how that bug works, have only been reading about it here on the forums)

so, for example: If I were to transfer some of my ships to ther SPs, I could texture all of them just so long as I only had max three at a port?

No, the bug is related to the order of the ships on your space terminal screen -- not the number at a spaceport.

When you use the terminal and scroll through your ships, only the first three to appear on the list can be colored... whether they're at that SP or not. (the bug probably has something to do with the original 3 ship slots)

I'm an imperial pilot, but I can at least texture/color my Yacht.
The problem I had is that it was #6 on my list of ships. I tried to give it texture 3, but it ended up with texture 1. I could color it, but for some reason it didn't use up my texture or color kits.

To fix the problem, I had to redeed all my ships until my yacht was among the first 3 ships to appear. When it was, I was able to color and change textures correctly.
