Thread: What about an Elite (Y-8) Mining Drill

TH mentioned last week they know it has several bugs and they are working on it. We can only sit and wait for them to push the fixes out to us. Hopefully in publish 19 but who knows.

Still... Its a good idea. The front weapon looks almost like a drill.

So, its unlikely that the devs will scrap the design of the Y-8 at this point. So theres little we can do about the turret coverage and such. Mining solo will probably never be "viable" in the mining ship like it is in a starfighter given the components we have. But what about getting them to create a mining drill for the ship that we can use in the pilot seat?

Instead of breaking off chunks, it could syphon points from the asteroid which convert into ore units. Doesnt even have to be any faster than lasers and tractors. We wouldnt have to fly around and the turrets could be used for defense, which they arent too bad at. I think that this might be our best chance to get the Y-8 to function like a real mining ship and actually put those 35k cargo holds to use. What do you guys think?
