Thread: How do these RE components compare to what is on your server?
There is no way in hell I would charge that little for a RE level 9 shield. I'm spending millions of credits buying loot from pilots and God knows how many hours sorting, examining stats, and reverse engineering. My time is just as valuable as anyone elses. A pilot can fill a couple packs of loot and sell to me for a few hundred thousand credits in a matter of hours. It isn't unreasonable then for me to charge that much or more for a mid level RE part that kicks the crap out of a comparable crafted component. I don't know if the market is there or not. I hope it is because I enjoy trying to make the best. But if people aren't willing to pay for that then I will stop buying loot and use the stuff myself before I will work for peanuts.

That right there is the exact reason I will *only* buy stuff from certain people, and that list is extremely short. Almost every RE'd part I make is from my own drops. Sure, I keep the cream of the crop for myself, but the others that get pushed out are very nice. I won't RE a crappy part.
If I went with the standard mentallity of 1.5x RE level buying, that would up the base investment to 135k just for the 9 parts. I'd have a nightmare trying to price something like that.
As I see it, all the pilots that know the good stuff already have it, so don't need something new. And the new pilots that are just getting there either a) don't know how good those RE'd parts are and what they are worth, b) don't have the money to buy them, or c) don't know how to use the Bazaar Vendor search option.
Of those 2, B is very unlikely, as piloting can make you some serious cash really fast. Thus, we're stuck with A and C, which both are caused by people not really learning how the game works. For that, there's not much that can be done.
Pretty much the same lines as my long explaination of why Refire for weapons is the *top* priority on determining DPS, at a factor of almost 2-1. 10 points invested into Refire when you are making something will give you almost twice the dps increase as 10 points put into anything else. And yet, my high damage guns will sell a lot better then my high refire. It's sad when people will buy a gun that has 3437 max damage, 2018 min damage, 0.29 refire (4623 DPS) over a gun with 3303 max damage, 1914 min damage, 0.25 refire (4949 DPS). Is it just me, or does that extra 300+ dps peak anyone else's attention. It seems, it doesn't to my customers, as they see that 2k-3.4k damage and just start buying.
**Edit Oh yeah, and saying that I put them at 90k is simply to prove a point. They aren't selling higher. This one shield has been on the vendor for about 2 months, starting in the mid 100s, and finally getting down to 90k. Damn thing just won't sell. I mean, sure, you can get those 2555 shields from the reward, but not everyone is going to be able to have one of those for every ship they have, so why not stick something good on your others.

Been so long since I've looked at the stats on crafted level 3-5 guns, so those look quite nice. I know that 5 is fairly comparable to my crafted 7 quickfires as far as DPS goes. Think that level 5 was just a few hundred behind.
All in all, /salute for some good RE's. Sucks that people won't look much for those, or at least most of my good RE'd stuff never really sells. People just can't do the math to see that 9 level 9 shields is 72,000 credits I could have gotten off the Chassis vendor, so putting it at 90k is *extremely* reasonable.
