Thread: Need Help/Clarification RE: Droid Interface Speed

There seems to be some debate about how the droid interface speed is supposed to work. I haven't personally experimented with the interfaces much, but would like to learn a bit more so I can make the right choice since mass is precious real estate on my TIE Advanced.

The debate is how exactly does the DI speed work? Is the lower speed regarded as better, or higher speed? The speed can be viewed as data access times which would warrant a lower speed. If this is the case, then whydo the higher level components show a higher number? Surely the higher level components are supposed to outperform the lower level components.

Or is there a certain amount of time which is hidden from us and the listed speed is actually a speed reduction? For example, say the special timer is 120 seconds, a Level 1 speed would reduce this time by 14.9 seconds if that was the speed listed. A level 6 would reduce that time by 41.3 seconds for the same reason. If this is true, then this would make more sense (to me at least, since higher level DI's would be able to access the data faster and more efficiently) and make the higher level components more sought after.

Until I can get home and play around with them, I'm asking you as the community to help me.

Thanks

PS - are the DI's still broke or were the actually fixed. This is why I haven't used them. I'm a 4444 pilot and would like every advantage I can get prior to doing my Ace missions.

Well when the game was released at the time it was still bugged in the game. However after Tuesday's patch the bugs were corrected and set to the correct way they are suppose to be. The higher the speed is the longer it takes for the droid to be able to perform another command. So if you have a mark I 14.9 speed DI, and a mark I 14.5 speed DI, the second is better. As a progammer some myself, in statistical data they does not look like a big huge differnece however in the computer thats pretty huge difference, even though we do not see it with the naked eye.

Hope this helps answer your question some!

Thanks for the answer. After having some opportunity to play around with the DI's, you were right and put an end to the debate (I was wrong :smileymad.

However, since I'm also a MSW, have you noticedthe speed actually gets worse when RE'd? I have RE'd a few DI's, and the speed got slower Had a 14.9 speed level 1 turn into a 15.1 speed. Since this is the case, I won't RE any pre-patch level 1 or 2 DI's with thefaster speeds.

I have noticed that the pre-patch DI speeds are opposite of what they used to be. Level 1's now show 30+ speed when they used to be ~15. A guildie looted a level 10 DI with a 3.4 or 4.3 speed.
