Yes you can. I have just started RE'ing myself on level 1 comp. and got disk 5/8.

Can you get parts of the Firespray schematic in a level one part? If not is there any reason to RE a level 1 part?

Yes, the discs can drop from level 1 loot. And yes, there is always a reason to RE a lvl 1 component since it will get 1% better on all stats (except for droid interfaces that are still bugged).

I got disk 1 of 8 on a level 1 RE item.
