Trying to increase the damage output of my Xwing.
I could try and put in a 3rd gun, but the reactor can't handle it. A L6 gun was the best i could do, and even then it seems silly to give up 400 front armor, booster, and ECM for a gun that will only work at 0.8% (80%?) capacity.
So that leaves trying to find Lvl 8 guns (umm ya right, never seen any, and if the L9s are any indicator, probalbly too heavy anyway), or get the best possible L7.s
On the average most that i own or have seen are roughly
14K mass, 2300-2500 reactor drain, 1400-2600 damage, 23ish energy per shot.
How can this be improved on? Increase the max damage? Or would it be better to increase the min damage for better averaging hits?
Obviously im looking for some custom work, so it would be nice to know what can be done.

I personally make around 1400-2500 with 18 energy per shot (.354ish speed). Mass is usually around 13k, and energy drain around 2k.

Best possible crafted Lvl 7 projectile weapon ?
stop trying to get weapons crafted for max damage go for reduced energy maint.
You can craft a subcomponent the will cut capacitor usage by up to 50% it does slow weapon.
You can also craft a subcomponent for max dam but it reduces min dam so your not changing average dam by much.
Go here and look at the subcomponents and what they do;

in my opinion speed is more important than min/max damage, and when i look for a weapon is the first thing i check

I always craft my weapons so the use less capacitor energy they fire a little slow but can hold trigger down and not worry about cap going dry.

it can be a good choice on a B-wing, and maybe for some 3 weapon craft with a bad capacitator, but generally weapon overcharge3 is sufficent to keep 2/3 weapons running

I've played with this some, made some with high max damage, high min damage, and low energy per shot. I think the low energy per shot is the best personally, with high min damage as the rest, but...the high max damage ones always sell first.

It depends completely on the ship you're flying. An X-Wing, B-Wing, Rihkxyrk, or Kimogila (3+ weapons ships) is probably best off using lowered energy/shot. For ships with two weapons, I'd probably use max damage enhancers for blasters and armor/shield effectiveness enhancers for disruptors/ion cannons. For single-weapon ships, I can't think of a situation where I wouldn't use a quickshot upgrade.
But, of course, so much also depends on other specifics of your ship and your preference.
